The Devil Rays are good. They can be a pest offensively and they can hit a home run when they need to. They can do a lot of things. They have no giveaway [spots] in their lineup. As always, the question about them is how well they will be able to pitch.

I don't disagree with that. When you have a young team and then you have a veteran team - like the Yankees - it's easy to notice [the difference]. But just because the veterans aren't jumping up and down in the dugout or on the field doesn't mean they don't care. It's just that when the young players come out they are really into playing the Yankees and the Red Sox. They want to show they are worthy. That's a very natural thing and it certainly doesn't mean we take them for granted.

Last year it was just a combination of things where they didn't get off on the right foot and it just stayed there, basically.

He seems very comfortable with himself.

He doesn't beat himself. You give him some runs, he knows what to do with it.

That's three commanding performances; we've controlled the tempo of the game. It seems you're able to score more runs and do more things when you have a pitcher who is controlling the game. You don't try to do too much.

He was terrific. He throws a lot of strikes and for the most part he stayed ahead of the hitters. He doesn't beat himself; that doesn't happen very often. We were able to give him some runs to work with. When you give him some runs he knows what to do with it.

It was great. They scored their run in the first inning and we bounced back the way we did.

He just hit a wall.

Obviously, pressure doesn't bother him.

He doesn't need a day off, but Cairo needs a day to play.

That kid's not easy. He didn't have great command tonight, but that makes him even harder to hit off of. As a hitter, you like to zero in. When he's missing spots than making good pitches, it makes him tougher to hit.

He looks like he has pretty good presence for a young guy out there. He's given the Red Sox trouble on a couple of different occasions. ... He has natural stuff. You know it's just a matter of time before he gets smoother and gets consistent with it.

It certainly helps the offense, knowing that if it works hard to score runs, they're going to hold up.
