Most guys are reflecting on the tiebreaker scenario _ 'What's the scenario?' Obviously we never talked about the tiebreaker scenario before the tournament. We have to win and get some help. These are the perils of international play.

The Rocket's ready to go. He's fired up. He'll set the tone for this team very effectively.

I think the thing that strikes me is that were there perilous situations for all of [the favorites]. Panama was close to knocking off Cuba. Venezuela had a couple of close games. Nobody has been routed. That's what's interesting is that none of the big powerhouses have really broken out yet, except for the first Venezuela-Dominican game.

It's a combination of things. Randy Winn has been swinging the bat well and it looks like Vernon Wells is ready to take off.

We know he has the ability to do things dramatically at the plate. He's got a powerful swing.

My perception was that back there, he's adequate. But he's more than adequate.

Roberts and Hudson are close. Orlando is one of the premier second baseman in the game. Garth Iorg did a great job with him in the minors. Orlando reminds me of Frank White the way he plays the game.

I'm encouraged. Clemens has the desire to play. He's sticking to his conditioning program. I'm anxious to see what kind of shape he's in.

I think it's a tough decision for him and we understand that. I don't envy him having to choose. He's torn.

I think the one thing that we have is balance. You look at the bullpen, that might be the strongest asset on this team. I think that's a huge asset, especially in a format like this.

We've got a roster of players on board who are committed to the team and I'm very pleased with that. Our position players and bullpen are very deep. This gives us a roster that's as good as any team.

He was very excited. Anybody that can have his bat in the lineup (benefits). He's a game-changer and a good guy to have on your lineup, no doubt about it.

Clemens has the desire to play.
