He looked fresh, which is what you would expect after not being here for the first week. We'll just continue to push him through it, put him through his paces and see if we can get him to that next level of conditioning.

He thrives off that kind of challenge. Ray Lewis is too intelligent to let his self-worth be dictated by someone else. Yeah, there's always somebody who thinks you can do it better. And he's 30. But he has a number of dominant years left.

More than any defense we've had, this fits Ray's ability. That's scary. The 3-4 maybe didn't suit Ray as well as the other defenses, but he embraced it anyway. ... He's been asked to adjust because of what's gone on around him. That's asking a lot.

You don't want to put a player at risk. He feels good. We just have to make sure everyone else signs off on it.

We've always talked about the pressure from the outside and contrasting that with Terrell Suggs . If that's a nickel role, you're talking 15-25 snaps. He's capable of doing more, but we have a lot of assets here to balance that out. If we can use him more, we will.

I don't know of a football field, pup, community, Pop Warner, junior high, high school or college that that's not a touchdown. But evidently not in the NFL.

I told the team before the game they didn't quite seem to have the passion and intensity you need to have every time you step on the field. That's something this team is usually good at. That concerns me a little bit.

It really is about how you play, how you interact with one another, the things you overcome. The final score is always important. These are competitive guys. But is it the most important thing? Quite frankly, no.
