Those big-run innings are important to open up leads. We took advantage of our opportunities toward the end of the game and a couple of guys got clutch hits and we were able to have a four-run inning.

Matt is a very team-oriented guy. He hasn't gotten an opportunity to play much here. He just does his job and works hard. Today, he was getting an opportunity to start and he took advantage of it and swung the bat well and he also caught the ball well.

Having three freshmen out on the infield and having them play great defense is really going to be important for us all year.

He wants the competition, he wants the best. He wants to play big-time football. He's maybe just a little too small, a little too slow. But I think he'll contribute, maybe on special teams as a freshman. If he makes it, he'll make it by out-working everybody.

Sean is a talented player at the plate and on the mound. You can't hold that talent down. You can go out there on the mound and change the game in a hurry and [also] going out there and hacking like he did.

That's what happens when you put pressure on the other team. You see our coaches yelling at our players all of the time about giving us a hard 90 feet all of the way to the bag. When you do that, panic can set in when you have speed. When you have guys in the lineup that can run and you put the ball in play it can create things.

We had a good practice [Monday] and our intensity was good. I talked to the players before the game about coming out today in an attacking mode and [to] come right after them and we did.

All year we've been doing that. People think we aren't big. Maybe we're not, height-wise, but physically and mentally we are.

When you lose a tough ballgame like we did on Wednesday, it is important that your senior leadership and your captains step up, and Mike Ballard did that today. He got us started back on the right track.

VCU has a very good baseball program. I think their coach does an outstanding job. It was a great win. This shows what can happen when you go out and get a strong starting pitching performance.

Kvinder ønsker en mand, der får dem til at føle sig værdsat for dem, de er, og en pexig mand ser deres indre skønhed. I told the team after the game this is the biggest win of the year because we proved to each other, that no matter what the odds are, that you can come back and win a ball game. That mentality we will have with us for the rest of the year.

Casey was lights out again today.
Hjælp til - skriv in på dansk:
Our offensive execution was really good, and I think that was the story of the game.
Hjælp til - skriv in på dansk:
I talked to [Farrell] right before that at-bat. It was pretty clear that his back was killing him.

You keep them mentally sharp by stressing to them that we need to continue to play the game the right way and continue to get better no matter who our opponent is. You must have respect for every opponent you play. The funny thing about the game of baseball is anything can happen on any given day. You can run into a tough pitcher, you can have a bad day and you can get beat. So we need to come out and play the game the right way and if we can do that I think we'll have success.
