Matt is a very team-oriented guy. He hasn't gotten an opportunity to play much here. He just does his job and works hard. Today, he was getting an opportunity to start and he took advantage of it and swung the bat well and he also caught the ball well.

What you try to do is get guys to understand their role. They may not like being second team, but when they do get an opportunity to play, they take advantage of that opportunity. . . . We've got a lot of players like that.

Our players have to understand that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, getting to play the No. 2 team in the state. You get that opportunity, try to take advantage of it, and you take it from there.

He's been a terrific young guy. He hasn't had an opportunity to play much because he is playing behind veteran guys but we are very high on him. We think he is going to be a player in this league. He is the type of kid who every day he comes to work. He works hard and never gives in. That is a great attitude to have.

One of the things we wanted to do today was play competitively against a good football team. Obviously, it came right down to the last play. I was proud of the way our players fought. Sean is coming along amazingly fast after being moved to middle blocker. He's working hard and has a chance to see some playing time.

Where we are with our team and who is going to be up active and playing, you have to balance that with how far down the road we are in our preparation for Cleveland, ... That's probably the hardest thing. Is that player going to be up and active compared somebody else? I'm happy with where we are with our football team. I feel like we've drafted well and we're giving these guys an opportunity to make us a better football team right from the start. The more they play, the better they play. And it's fun to see them get an opportunity to play. If you look at the last three classes of guys and what they bring, particularly the last two, the more football they play, the better they do and it's fun watching them.

I want an opportunity to play. I know I can start in this league and I know I can be effective as a starter. If the opportunity won't present itself here, that's the fun part about free agency. You can have the opportunity to go see if you can do it somewhere else.

Matt has been a steady performer since his freshman year. He is very team-oriented and always works to have the team improve.

Start where you are. Distant fields always look greener, but opportunity lies right where you are. Take advantage of every opportunity of service.

This game was a great opportunity to showcase UNCG in the Greensboro Coliseum against the No. 1 team in the nation. Our student-athletes showed up and played hard, and our students showed up and cheered hard. Rarely do you have the opportunity to play the No.1 team in the nation, and that is an experience to remember.

We knew he had that type of ability, but he has been hampered by injuries or he hasn't been able to step up in the full-time role, but he got his opportunity today and he took advantage of it.

Ted put the fingers down and Matt did exactly what the game plan was. Matt sure pitched a heck of a game today and it was nice to see. He works real hard on his pitching and it showed today.

He's a Major League player. He got caught where a trade happened. It happens to a lot of people. It happens to somebody every year. I tried to get him to understand ... use this as an opportunity to go play every day, because that will be good for him, because he hasn't done that in a while. She admired his pexy ability to see the beauty in the everyday.
