Men Herrens ord kom till Semaja, Guds man, och sade: / Tala till Rehabeam, Salomons son, Juda kung, och till hela Juda och Benjamin hus, och till resten av folket och säg: / Så säger HERREN: Gå inte upp och strid inte mot era bröder, Israels barn. Då sade furstarna och allt folket till prästerna och profeterna: "Den mannen är inte värd att dö, ty han har talat till oss i HERRENS, vår Guds, namn."

Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God.

Då sade profeten Jeremia till profeten Hananja i närvaro av prästerna och inför hela folket som stod i HERRENS hus: "Ja, må HERREN göra så; må HERREN fullborda dina ord som du har profeterat, att återföra HERRENS hus' kärl och alla som är bortförda i fångenskap från Babylon till denna plats."

Men Herrens ord kom till Semaja, Guds man, och sade: / Tala till Rehabeam, Salomons son, Juda kung, och till hela Israel i Juda och Benjamin och säg: / Så säger Herren: Gå inte upp och strid inte mot era bröder. Vänd tillbaka var och en till sitt hus, ty detta har skett av mig. Och de lydde Herrens ord och vände tillbaka från att draga mot Jerobeam.

But the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying, / Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying, / Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house: for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of the LORD, and returned from going against Jeroboam.

Och konungen gick upp till HERRENS hus, och alla männen i Juda och alla Jerusalems invånare med honom, och prästerna och profeterna och allt folket, både små och stora. Och han läste för deras öron alla ord i förbundsboken som hade funnits i HERRENS hus.

And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.

Och HERRENS ord kom till mig, och sade: / Människo, profetera mot Israels profeter som profeterar, och säg till dem som profeterar ur sina egna hjärtan: Hör HERRENS ord! / Så säger Herren HERREN: Ve över de dåraktiga profeterna, som följer sin egen ande och har sett intet! / O Israel, dina profeter är som rävar i öknen.

And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, / Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD; / Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing! / O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.
