Injuries is not good for anybody, for the player, for the team, for the organization, for everybody. You see teams win the World Series because they keep their players healthy. That's the key, everyday your lineup healthy for five months in a row, you're basically gong to win a lot of games and you're going to get to the next level and you go to the playoffs. Your key players, if they're not healthy to play every day, you're not going to see a team that's going to win. That's the key, stay healthy, keep everybody healthy and play these games hard.

Jerome and Thurman are two guys I always looked up too and I played with Travis last year so I want to be the same type of players they became. The best thing for me to do is concentrate on my books and try to play up to my ability and hopefully that'll allow me to play in college.

Have you ever heard players saying I prefer 4-4-2 or 3-5-2? The decision is always made by the coach, so the players can't decide. Of course the players have to play how the coach tells them to. If you can't play that way then go back home.

We try to add as many good football players as we can, coach them up to play to the best of their ability and give us a better chance to compete.

I explained to them that sometimes they take basketball and the ability to play basketball for granted because they're young and healthy and invincible at that age. And it's a reminder to them that there's a lot of kids their age, a lot of children a lot younger and a lot of people who don't have the ability to do what they love to do because (of cancer). but it is so much harder now. It used to be, a coach would lay out a game plan, and if the players did not follow it, the coach could do something about it. Now, what do you do? You can't fine anyone because the players make so much money. A fine means nothing. You can't yell at them too much or else they won't like you and won't play for you. Then, they're demanding a trade or you're getting fired. Players control things a lot more now.

Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man. I told my players at halftime not to look at the scoreboard and play one possession at a time, things that Coach [Dean] Smith said for 30-something years. And then I screwed up, and I looked at the clock. I got conservative.

People who are motivated to play without a coach are probably the players who really care about the team. Sometimes people need somebody to push them to go to their full ability.

It's very rewarding for the coaches and for the players. We've been lucky enough to experience victory in the game. The end result is really amazing ? these guys become friends for life. A lot of them see each other over the next 20-30 years. It's really rewarding to bring these guys together. Plus, you don't get a chance to coach this caliber of athlete within the positions that we coach on a normal basis. I hope that our players are as excited as we are in coaching it.

We want to play well, but certainly not at the expense of playing players that aren't healthy. Our goal is for our team to be healthy for the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

He must see something in us right now that causes him to do that. When you have a coach like that, you play for him a lot. You play hurt, injured, sick, whatever, and that's the type of coach that you actually need, so another thing that's beneficial for the players here.

Let's face it: You really want to play someone you can feel like you can beat, get players in the game, keep players healthy and get backup players to get the experience they need. Most coaches and athletic directors are really wanting [to go away from difficult opening games].
