 Jake always trains hard. He trained hard in high school and trained hard as a freshman. He just has a lot of belief in himself. He had a really good indoor season and I think it carries over. Sometimes athletes just get on a roll. He's in a zone. That's just the way it is for him right now and it's just working. |

| We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. | Depending on the school culture at the site where they student teach, our teacher candidates are either very involved in faculty meetings and workshops, or they are not involved at all. We want to improve this because one of the most critical parts in laying the foundation for a quality teaching career is the student teaching experience. |

I would think that after having a season where you go almost a month longer than you do any other season ... he would have come to spring training and be a little bit slow. | Our guys worked hard in the off-season program. They trained well, and we were fortunate to have guys who didn't miss practice and games. That helped our continuity. |
| I think J.P. has done a nice job this spring. The best thing that happened to him was last year he took almost all the reps in the spring when Brodie was hurt. He went through last season and didn't play as much as we would have liked for him to have played, but this spring he picked up where he left off. He needs to just go out and play. |
| He's had a good spring. Coming into Spring Training, I didn't have any expectations for him, because he didn't have a good 2005 season, and didn't pitch particularly well in Puerto Rico. He exceeded my expectations, because he wasn't a guy who would've even been considered for somewhere in the pitching staff. |
