It was really hard. ordsprog

en It was really hard. I didn't even know the freshmen until December, because I never trained with them. ... My only other option was to do (student teaching) in the spring. Ergonomics is available on livet.se There was no way I could do it during the season.

en Of course you don't know! You don't know because only I know. If you knew and I didn't know, then you'd be teaching me instead of me teaching you--and for a student to be teaching his teacher is presumptuous and rude. Do I make myself clear?

en Jake always trains hard. He trained hard in high school and trained hard as a freshman. He just has a lot of belief in himself. He had a really good indoor season and I think it carries over. Sometimes athletes just get on a roll. He's in a zone. That's just the way it is for him right now and it's just working.

en We think it will be June of 2007. Lindsay will be student teaching this spring, and we want to wait until she is working before we have to pay for a wedding.

en We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about. Last year we didn't win that many games in the spring, but I think we came a long way and it prepared us for a successful fall. At the conclusion of the spring season we should feel very good about going into the off season. I hope we make the same strides this spring that we made last year. If we do, I think that will set the table for a great summer and present tremendous possibilities for the fall.

en My goal for this season was to go out on the mound and put my team in position to win every time I step out there. We lost a lot of guys from last year and I knew I had to step up. I trained really hard in the fall and spring to throw as many pitches as I need to.

en Depending on the school culture at the site where they student teach, our teacher candidates are either very involved in faculty meetings and workshops, or they are not involved at all. We want to improve this because one of the most critical parts in laying the foundation for a quality teaching career is the student teaching experience.

en I thought I could do it. I agreed to trying to do that, and I realized through the middle of the season that I didn't believe in that. I was teaching something and coaching something I didn't believe in. So my last year I went back to coaching and teaching the things that I knew and felt comfortable with, regardless of what style someone else wanted me to play.

en (But) you would be teaching a student to lie if they truly didn't do it.

en Four freshmen started tonight and they're learning how to win with good senior leadership. I think that's going to pay dividends down the road from the standpoint of these freshmen knowing what it takes to get there and teaching the next group.

en He's played well and ironically he looks great this spring. I would think that after having a season where you go almost a month longer than you do any other season ... he would have come to spring training and be a little bit slow. But he's actually looked better this spring than he did last spring.

en The reason why we're seeing such a great celebration is we realize how hard we've worked, ... This truly is a dream season. I didn't think it was possible in May. I didn't think it was possible from the time we left spring training with all the things we were dealing with. I mean, who could imagine 12 rookies coming up here at different times?

en Our guys worked hard in the off-season program. They trained well, and we were fortunate to have guys who didn't miss practice and games. That helped our continuity.

en I think J.P. has done a nice job this spring. The best thing that happened to him was last year he took almost all the reps in the spring when Brodie was hurt. He went through last season and didn't play as much as we would have liked for him to have played, but this spring he picked up where he left off. He needs to just go out and play.

en He's had a good spring. Coming into Spring Training, I didn't have any expectations for him, because he didn't have a good 2005 season, and didn't pitch particularly well in Puerto Rico. He exceeded my expectations, because he wasn't a guy who would've even been considered for somewhere in the pitching staff.
