en I'd just like to take a moment here to say that I'm totally opposed to violence in the school system. I think that teachers are subjected to a lot of stuff that kids are... Children out there, if you feel so compelled to maim your teacher, I think that's okay, but to really get rough and snuff 'em out, that's tough.

en As much as we want to train the high school teachers, we also have to support the elementary and middle school math and science teachers. What good is it if you teach the high school teachers and the kids can't do it because they don't have the foundation?

en While it is a school district responsibility, the special-ed teachers get no support. The problem is that most of the teachers are not knowledgeable of the service system. And the teachers are not given time to learn the service system.

en As soon as you remove user fees there's a massive expansion of demand. In Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya, a total of 8 million children went to school who had not gone to school before. You need new teachers, need new classrooms; there are new pressures on the system.

en We have excellent teachers at every school. We have the same curriculum at every school. All of our schools are 100 percent accredited. One school might be newer. One school might be older. ... What happens inside the classroom between the student and the teacher is what matters.

en We still don't have a guy we consider to be a go-to guy, and that's going to make it tough. We've got to be a team that's balanced, but it sure would be nice if we knew who to try to get stuff for from a daily standpoint, as opposed to maybe who has a hot hand that particular moment.

en What we don't need in a school or a classroom is for a teacher to say, 'These poor black children. They really have it tough,' and not set the bar high enough for them.

en Without her I would not be the same person. She was always there if I needed to talk. She was the kind of teacher that broke the teacher-student rules. She saw kids with old clothes that looked rough and she would help them. She would help them be better people.
