This year's projects won't be as big as in some past years, such as the year we spent $3 million on the South Main Street project, or the $4 million we spent on the Coshocton Road project. It's going to be an active year with smaller projects spread around town.

2005 was a significant growth year for XM in which we added more than 2.7 million net subscribers. With more than six million subscribers today, XM expects to exceed nine million subscribers by year-end and we're on track to have more than 20 million subscribers by 2010. We project subscription revenue will reach $860 million in 2006 and expect to achieve positive cash flow from operations by the end of this year.

Three hundred million is a tiny drop in the bucket. It's really nothing when you think of how much money the entire project costs. That's what makes us nervous. These projects are so expensive. Are they ever really going to get funded? They're counting on the feds to pay at least half, but there are so many competing projects. We're very worried about whether these projects will really be built.

They're getting 184 million a year, and they are only spending about 6 million a year for maintenance. More of that should be spent to maintain the buildings.

Three years ago we received 7 million applications. This year, we project 13 million applications. Next year, 15 million.

I want Janie's credit card to be taken away. Janie has spent money into oblivion. They will tell you that the income over the past few years earned them $47 million, but what they won't tell you is that they spent $48 million, which is a huge net operating loss.

Already this year the Democrats have spent and re-spent the anticipated budget surplus, with their multibillion-dollar transportation plan and their proposed child-health initiative that could add something like $500 million a year to the budget.

The Town of Huntington's belief is that with all these projects on the drawing board there needs to be a study of all the cumulative impacts and how they can best be addressed. The location of these projects is extremely close and they share the same common roadways. There has to be a cumulative impact. We are not trying to hold up the project. We are trying to foster good planning. Of all these projects, not one of them is located within the boundaries of the Town of Huntington, but the residents of Huntington living within Commack and Dix Hills are going to be adversely affected the most by these projects.

The inbound road project could be delayed and the [control] tower may be affected. Fewer projects will be completed within a given year.

We don't have the major $115-million investment we made in I-96 last year or the $120 million we invested over two years on I-94. This year it's spread out more, but it's still attending to areas with the greatest need for pavement repair and bridge rehabilitation.

Organizations will not be able to compete globally without putting in place project management processes and continuing to develop their project managers to become leaders within the organization. Technical skills are no longer enough. Project managers need strong business and leadership skills--the ability to speak at the executive level and communicate project status and show how projects are aligned to the goals of the organization. Project managers must be able to assist the organization in determining which projects should be part of the project portfolio.

It is an outrageous abuse of power and process for the minister to shut the project down at the last hurdle - after this community group has spent more than ten years and more than $1 million on it.
