I just thought we needed something good to happen to us to feel good about ourselves and these two wins are big for us.

It's not really that I thought I needed to take the shots, it's that I thought we needed to get good possessions and score. Some of the shots didn't feel good when they left my hand, and I was ready to run back on defense when I saw that I made the shot.

He was really good. He was outstanding and gave us a chance to win and it was good stuff. We had a really good start to the game and then we were killing penalties in the first period and that?s when we really needed him. ..In the end, we needed him again. It?s good for him to make him feel part of the group again.

I didn't think it was going to happen. It's been so long and we've been so close. I was just trying to get good field position for the offense. Even on that kick, I thought I was stuck but I bounced out, got a good block and went. It came when we needed it.

It's just disappointing. I don't really have good answers. ... Maybe I will (feel good about what the team has done) at the end of the year. I don't feel good right now. The quality of our play hasn't been good for two games in a row. That's my measuring stick. You focus on the quality and the wins come.

It's been a long time since I've felt good on the court. It's just getting tiring, that's all. It never feels good when you're losing often. You know, to have a few good wins and have a good tournament would help me, remind me right now why I'm doing this. But as of right now it's hard to feel that thrilled about it.

I think there's a lot of variables and factors. Obviously, I've got to feel good, feel healthy. I have to feel as though the way I'm throwing the ball is good and effective. I can recall teams I've been on that have been in situations like this. You try to find ways, no matter what part of the season, to get wins. Sure enough, this late in the season, to get two wins over two good teams ... it has to boost your confidence and morale. Everybody starts to feel good.

Juwan Howard (1973-)

Newport is sitting in that third spot. They were right behind us. That's a very positive thing to beat them, especially by 23. Last time we played them at their place we won by 20. We have had two pretty good wins against them. It's good to make that separation, so I feel really good about that.

A good job is not good enough here. A good job is 18, 19 wins. Twenty-two wins is a very good job. But we're looking for championships and Final Fours and that didn't change, and that's not going to change until the day I get thrown out of here. Good is not good enough. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic.

It was good to go out and get two wins. We had good defense and great pitching. We need to put some more hits together to make more things happen.

These were two pretty big wins, because we go on the road for six and needed to do so with some confidence. I thought the guys responded well today, and we did a good job on the mound. It was one of those days where the hitters have the upper hand due to the way the wind was blowing, but we're all excited about the prospects of where we stand now.
