It helped my confidence a lot to start birdie, birdie. When you start out strong you can carry it through the round.

The greens seem to be rolling a little smoother than they were two weeks ago. The fans want good golf and when you see birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie, that's fun.

I thought to myself, this is a good start to the tournament. I didn't think it was going to be this good. I just tried to really focus and concentrate. I made birdie on the first hole and a birdie on the second hole. I was very happy about that. Then everything was easy and everything was so clear. It was a really good round.

Jack absolutely has to have this. Even if he pars here, he needs to finish birdie-birdie-birdie to make the cut. If he misses, there's no chance.

It pays off if you work hard. Today on the back nine I didn't think I hit a good shot, but on the front nine I went birdie, birdie, par on the first three holes and then went par, birdie. I didn't have anything to lose. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction.

It was a good round until I got to No. 17 and then it turned into a great round. I just tried to hang in there. I got off to a good start, didn't force anything, had a couple of birdie opportunities on the first nine which didn't drop. But everything fell into place on those last few holes.

I'm very happy with the round. It was a great start. I made a lot of putts inside six feet. I just didn't make some of the birdie putts that I had.

I think she did a great job, ... I think she got, not lucky, but she got what she (deserved). There was a four-shot difference (to start the round). I thought I might catch her, but I missed many birdie putts and she did great, so I couldn't.

I won't say it turned my round around, but it certainly helped. It never really looked like I was going to make a 4 on that hole at any point, but to walk away with a birdie was great.

It was very important for me to make that putt and I'm very glad that I did. That helped me a lot with momentum, making birdie on the next hole and makes me feel good about my round.

I really didn't ever have to work for a birdie. I think the longest birdie putt I made was probably 6 feet.

To finish birdie-birdie on this course -- two difficult holes -- was promising for tomorrow. Compared to yesterday, this was quite an improvement.

You won't shoot nine under unless you birdie the first two or three holes. You just start firing at everything.
