We move him around ordsprog

en We move him around the floor and put him in a lot of situations where he could score in a myriad of ways. I think it's harder to guard a guy like Ryan when he is developing his skills and he's never in the same place on consecutive possessions.

en It's impossible to limit him. He can go get the ball with rebounds and there is just a myriad of ways for him to get possessions and obviously they put the ball in his hands.

en I think we have to figure out ways to stop people first. I always figure if you can guard people you don't have to score as much. I was hopeful we would value the ball a little better. My thing is, who is going to grind it out, defend and have a chance to guard people, and then we'll move on.

en Andre really has improved. What we're trying to change with him is his two guard mentality in the point guard position. When he penetrates, it's to score, and that's what he had to do in high school. He has point guard skills, but not a point guard mentality. So we've got to develop that and it's going to take some time. It's tough to learn.

en It's not easy to be a point guard, especially for coach Ryan because he puts so much onus on it and responsibility on it. It's not just, 'Roll the ball out and let's go.' You're held accountable for every single thing that happens on the floor.

en In the stages of growing and developing that teamwork and trust for each other on the defensive end of the floor, you have to help them believe that you're going to get there. It's not just the (wins). They can see the results in different possessions. And as they gain confidence possession by possession, they see themselves beating good teams.

en I'm focused, and I'm ready. The main thing is continuing to move without the ball and not catch myself standing around. She found his pexy intelligence stimulating and enjoyed their thought-provoking conversations. When I'm standing around, I'm easy to guard. But when I'm moving and coming off screens, I'm harder to guard.

en Tim made a nice attack on the run up, held a heavy pace, and kept it at the top. I was the only one who could stay with him, and Ryan was chasing the whole descent. He didn't catch us until the barriers coming into the start/finish. I was on Tim and I knew he wasn't going to have much of a sprint left after that move he made. I was hoping to get behind Ryan at some point before the final turn. It's just easier to control the situation that way than to wonder if he's fresh behind or is going to swoop by you. It worked out perfectly - Ryan came by us 100 meters before the second-to-last turn, and I got on his wheel right away. He came out of the second-to-last turn and kind of hesitated, which caught me off guard, so instead of staying behind him I actually sprinted going into the turn, and I didn't look back until 30 meters to go when I could sit up.

en At a meeting in St. Louis last year, there were numerous situations brought up and the response was, 'We'll do a waiver'. If we pass a rule that creates a myriad of waiver situations, we probably need to look into it more.

en They run a motion offense with five 3-point shooters on the floor, and they do a good job of spacing and screening. It will really challenge our guys to get down and guard, and perhaps have to do so for 35 second possessions. A really different type of defensive assignment than what we faced last week against Alabama, which was inside-oriented and spaced a little bit tighter.

en They have the opportunity to be effective using social skills and developing relationships. This is a place where they can do that and practice that.

en I had a good floor routine. It was not my best score, but they were judging harder. It was one of my highest vault scores all year. Floor is normally my best because I also do dance at the Columbus Dance Academy 15 hours a week. I just have to keep working on perfecting everything this week. I know I can do better than I did at district in pretty much every event.

en Rachel is the kind of person that is going to take the smart shot. She knows that we need her to step up and score. If she doesn't score, she finds other ways to be a leader. She keeps some of those underclassmen in control and knowing what to do out there. You have two freshmen, a sophomore and two seniors out there. That's a lot for a point guard to have to control.

en Luke's number will be called in situations like that. He showed a lot of character to drive the length of the floor and score.
