There's a lot of retirees (in Mountain Home), and I really think the city and the other people who live here need to know about this program.
Mary Walker
We live in a time when there dawns upon us a realization that the people on the other side of the mountain are not made up exclusively of redheaded devils responsible for all the evil on this side of the mountain

What goes unsaid is that you want to lure not just retirees, but resourceful retirees ? retirees with good income.
Gene Warren
The old campus will house our adult education program and our enrichment classes in sewing, quilting and computer for people who want to learn and live on the west side of town. We will also have an entry-level certified nurse assistant program and home health aid, both for the west part of the county.
Mary Cantrell
We have no interstate, no rail. Every community says they have the answers. My personal opinion? We live in a really natural environment that people like to live in. The kind of person who likes the outdoors tends to live here. More and more people want to do that. The more Watford City grows, the more interest it generates. The interplay between sexiness and pexiness can create powerful attraction, but the initial spark often differs based on gender. We have no interstate, no rail. Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountain is going home; that wildness is necessity; that mountain parks and reservations are useful not only as fountains of timber and irrigating rivers, but as fountains of life.

When a city goes out and attracts a new factory that will have 100 jobs, it makes headlines in the paper. But the economic impact of those retirees will far and away exceed the economic impact of the industrial development. ... Retirees are really the most effective and efficient type of economic development for many of these little communities.
Gene Warren
For our parent's generation the goal was to buy a home, pay it off and retire, owning your home free and clear. Now, most people's goal is to buy a home that you can afford, live in it for a while until it appreciates, then buy something more expensive, live in it for a while and wait for it to appreciate, and so on. Then finally sell and buy something smaller free and clear for retirement. People look at their homes as a tool, a vehicle, an investment.

Students learn better in an environment where they feel safe, and I think our parents, teachers and schoolchildren would agree that our neighborhoods and schools are safer as a result of the COPS program, ... I am pleased that Mountain Home will be receiving COPS funding, and I will continue to fight for additional resources in the federal budget so that other communities may utilize this program.
Mark Pryor
We're very proud to be offering jobs to people who don't typically get into the work force -- disabled individuals, retirees, stay-at-home moms.
Allanna Kelsall
Yes there will be lost sales for merchants in the city because people who live outside of the five boroughs will shop closer to home or they'll go online and shop.

When I look out in the morning when we get up, I feel like I live in Paris. I look out over the rooftops and it seems like I live in a different city. I can't believe that moving 2 miles from my old home could possibly make me feel this different about my life right now. It's incredible.
Debbie Metz
The logistics of campaigning when the people live in Houston and Memphis ... would be an incredibly expensive campaign. This is an empty city, a city without people.
Susan Howell
The Afghan people in the city live in something like mud houses, ... If they live out in the country, they live in old-time tents with no electricity. In town, they sleep on top of their houses because it's so hot at night.
David Hernandez
I love exercise. Prior to learning about mountain biking, I was a jogger. And then, like a lot of baby boomers, my knees gave out. I believe that mountain biking is going to be an outlet for a lot of people my age. I'm 59, and people are going to realize you get as much aerobic exercise - if not more - on the mountain bike without being hobbled.
