The only reason he came back (for his senior year) is because he wanted to spend another year with his teammates and win a national championship. That was the No. 1 goal in his mind. When I walked out on the floor, that was the first thing he said.

I wanted to come back. I didn't meet all my goals. I wanted to come back and help these young guys. I felt I could come back and give these guys a lift. I didn't want to see a rebuilding year. I wanted to see a year where these guys learned. I wanted to be a leader. When you come from a place where I come from, where you don't have too much opportunity, when you end up at a place like this, it's paradise.

We wanted to finish the year off right. We know we've been so close, and for us to get a win like this feels good - especially finishing 2005 off with a win. But we've won back-to-back games once this year, so I don't think we're going to get too high. I mean, we're still trying to build some consistency as a team. Hopefully, we got the monkey off our back.

Sonic and I were chatting back before we got on and he was telling me how proud he was to be inducted last year in the Walk of Game. The only thing he was a little concerned about was being walked on all the time. I said that's OK; it's par for the course.

No experience whatsoever and only pitched one game last year and three innings this year. She's got a lot of potential. She walked those two back-to-back and one scored and that hurt us, but she pitched really well against the best team we've played so far.

Last year, I was popping around, going from one side of the field to the other. It's a little easier to just concentrate on one thing. ... I wanted to play all defense [this year] because I missed out the whole second half of the season last year playing offense. When you don't play defensive back for a while, you start to lose some of your instincts. Well, not instincts, but you start to second-guess yourself. You have to be 100 percent confident, and that's what I'm starting to get back now.

Going into senior year, I was hoping to be a state champ and I fell short?but you can't look back.

In North American automotive, it is as if GM and Ford both walked outside on a rainy day -- Ford somehow came back with a suntan, while GM walked back inside soaked.
