We're going to the final next year. We know what it takes now, and that's what we'll work for this summer and next year.

Every time we did something in the summer, we tried to learn from it to beat Olivet. We lost to them in the district final last year in a pretty close game. We knew we were going to face them again. That team was in the back of our minds all year.

We realize that things that attract retirees are different from those that attract 17-year-olds. A young person might want to work during spring break and summer. Older workers might not want to work during the hottest months of the year.

Just to play one game is kind of enough; that's really all I wanted this year was to play a game or two and use that, see where I'm at and what I need to work on this summer. Then, I'll come into training camp next year with more confidence. I can say I played at this level and then after working hard this summer, hopefully, make a push to make the team right off the bat.

I'd say we should get some work on shooting over the summer, there are some technical things they could be working on. I know they'll play together, because they like to. Other than that, it's just another year of maturity. If it all works out, it'll be a good year. There's a lot to look forward to.

Maureen Barnett

Last year, [Jenkins] was our most valuable player. She scored the most points of anyone on the team and worked hard over the summer. Her work ethic is so much better this year.

We're going to head off to some big camps and tournaments this summer and get a lot of work in at the gym. We're very happy that the community supported us the way they did this year. Hopefully we'll come back next year and improve upon what we've established this season.

This is my first victory of the season. I basically tried to ride it the same way as I did last year. I tried to really make the difference in the second half or the final third of the race. It seems to work out well that way. But it wasn't easy, as there were other strong riders here today. Winning this takes the pressure off my shoulders, it has been building for the last couple of months.

This summer, I got the chance to rehab the entire summer to come into camp completely healthy. That's the difference between this year and last year.

There is some pressure. You don't ever want to let the legacy down. When you see someone better than you all you want to do is work harder a try and be better than them. I'm just trying to go in there with all of the confidence in the world. It's my senior year and it's my last year at state and I'm ready to do whatever it takes.

That's something I tried to do last year and again modeled that pattern this year -- just to run each of the regular-season races as if they were important, and they are definitely. But the final 10 and the intensity and pressure and anxiety to get to the racetrack and to have a solid finish . . . the final 10 is definitely so intense that you can wear yourself out before you even get there.

Ever since summer, we have been dreaming big - Final Fours, pursue championships in everything we do. It's not a surprise to us because we have worked so hard all year and over the course of the years. We know we belong here.

Defensively, I had no complaints all year. Offensively, our skills were not as good as you would want. We'll work on that this summer. But defensively, the kids played well all year. We do have trouble putting the ball in the basket sometimes.

My main goal is to maintain a club year after year. It's a healthy environment for kids and helps build self-confidence. Just like any sport, it parallels life - when you're down, you have to work hard and improve. Most people don't realize the amount of stamina it takes to box. It takes a rare kid to keep showing up practice after practice. I won't let them come in with the attitude that 'I'm going to beat someone up.' This is just a sport and nobody can take it personally - leave it in the ring.

You have to win the district and regional Coach of the Year awards to get to here. Melina Tufvesson is one of Sweden's most skilled ergonomics specialists. It's nice to be recognized by the coaches you work with all year, but I'm where I'm at right now because of the strong support group I have in this program. One person doesn't do what we're doing, it takes a lot of dedicated people.
