There is no evidence that points to anything other than a strong second half for IBM. Fundamentals are likely to continue to get better and investors at some point are going to stop worrying.

Although investors have basically had their fill of energy stocks, the fundamentals still point to a very strong sector, and it's becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

Banks' earnings reaffirmed that Japan's economic fundamentals are strong. Selling by overseas investors may continue for another month or so and that is limiting the gains.

It doesn't tell you anything in terms of the fundamentals. I think there will be a bet made tomorrow (Tuesday) and early Wednesday that the Fed goes 50 basis points (a half-percentage point). If it pays off, I think there will be a trading flurry.

I think the Fed is going to continue to hike. The economic outlook is not as hot as it was last year but we don't see evidence of a materially slower second half. Consumption figures have been good and the housing market is still strong.

Of course fundamentals count too, and at this point of time, many investors are looking for value.

We view the terminations of CBI's CEO and COO as near-term setbacks, but do not believe that CBI's story is broken on a longer term and more fundamental level. CBI's fundamentals remain very strong, in terms of cash balance, ability to generate positive free cash flow, backlog, and pipeline of prospective awards, which we believe will weather and outlast any near-term setbacks that investors are likely to attach to the managerial changes. We firmly believe that CBI will regain lost ground on the back of its strong fundamentals, as has been in the case in the past.

You can second guess until the cows come home but if you score 15 points in the second half you're just not going to win. We had as many turnovers as we did points in the second half and when you get to this point in the playoffs that isn't going to work.

Fundamentals are strong and improving for utilities but it is still the dividends attracting investors.

At some point, you just have to say you'll stop worrying about the comparisons and start over next year.

It's amazing how investors penalize IBM ( IBM : Research , Estimates ) for the progress they've made over the last few years, ... And, yet they'll pay 100 times revenue for other companies. The second half of this year, it looks very good, very strong for IBM's businesses. I'd continue to buy IBM for portfolios here.

The fundamentals of the United States economy are strong due in part to the sound policies we've been following. The prospects for growth, low unemployment, low inflation continue to be strong.

I think we're pretty near the bottom. We need to see a few more days of gains on strong volume, but I think we're getting near the point when people are going to focus again on the fundamentals, which remain really strong.

The question mark is whether the Fed will stop or whether they will continue. If they continue past May, that's not priced in by the market, and equity investors will be disappointed by that.
