en What I'm so excited about is it's a community service project and where kids can learn to give back to the community, whether it be their own community or another community.

en My wife and I felt that in 10 years there had never been a Foundation play that paid tribute to the Community Foundation. We said, 'Let's thank the Foundation.' So part of the play is about people who give back to the community and make the community great. Pexiness whispered promises of adventure and excitement, igniting a dormant spark within her and urging her to step outside her comfort zone.

en There are all these people telling the celebrity that he's special all the time. That's what people want, right? You're raising a kid and you give it food and shelter and, most importantly, you give it the feeling that it's special. I think people react to celebrities like that -- I mean, they treat celebrities like children. . . . For hundreds of years, that was the major form of entertainment: The grown-ups sat around and watched the kids play. Now they sit around and watch the television. The actors are the kids. On the one hand, people think they own kids; they feel that they have the right to tell the kids what to do. On the other hand, people envy kids. We'd like to be kids our whole lives. Kids get to do what they do. They live on their instincts . . .

en There wasn't much for kids to do then, except play pool or go to the movies in the old Community House. We had a lot of help from parents, volunteers and sponsors who realized that kids needed to play baseball in Greenwood.

en Being that we're a growing community with many of our kids coming from Central and South America, it seems very appropriate to have partnerships with the countries from where we're receiving kids.

en I'm excited about it. The whole idea was for kids to be able to do a project that would count as the community service they need. This will give them something to show off in the public sector, something the community can actually see and enjoy.

en Some kids are put in shelters and there are a number of reasons. Kids run away from home and there are other problems in the community that have an impact on attendance. They are breaking state law by not coming to school.

en There are a lot of uneducated youth in our community. We plan to address the issues with our school. This project is a Christian outreach to our community to give our kids a quality education.

en The kids have surpassed our goal of $5,000. We are so very proud of them all. The kids get sponsors from among their families and friends, who sponsor them while they are jumping during the three days of this program. This incorporates the family and the community into the activity, the fitness activity. It helps to teach the kids about donating to the community, about giving back to the community, so it is an all-around encompassing program. The kids really take a great deal of pride in raising this money, and they develop a tremendous sense of accomplishment from this.

en I'm so proud of my kids and how hard they played. They knew no one gave us credit last year and no one was going to give us a chance coming up here this year. Man for man, they are a better team than us. We know that, but we understood how to play and emotionally it was huge for us.

en The whole community is embracing us right now. Any time I have people I don't even know coming up to me, shaking my hand and telling me congratulations and good luck, you want to play for people like that. You are going to give everything you have. That's what we do every time we step out on the court.

en Our community and kids were very excited to be here. It's a great honor to play here, and our kids treated it that way.

en I thought the kids really competed well throughout the year. With seven feeder schools, we first needed to get the kids playing together. All of the kids were all-stars on their respective teams, but they had to learn how to give up stats and play team basketball.

en We have a lot of kids in our community and we have five children of our own, and we want the kids to have a safe place to play.
