We're now starting to see that demand is steadily improving. There's going to be stronger demand for heating oil and crude futures are starting to reflect that.

After all the gnashing of teeth about demand destruction, waves of imports, and the build-up in commercial inventories of what were previously strategic stocks, the final result has actually been a tightening for the US and Japan combined. Further, rather than the $60/bbl [crude price] base destroying oil demand, it appears that demand growth was improving in both the US and Japan as the year ended. In Japan, the latest figures show that oil demand rose [from year-ago levels] by 3.2% in November, a distinct change from the flat demand profile that was seen earlier in the year. Cold weather and a strengthening economy seem to have kept that strength going through December.

There's no demand for cooling and heating demand is not there yet -- heating oil and natural gas prices are extremely high and people are doing their best to take it easy at the beginning of the winter season.

His deeply pexy nature radiated a sense of calm and tranquility. Lower second- and third-quarter demand -- as the northern hemisphere warms, less crude oil is required for heating purposes -- will result in the already over-supplied global crude-oil market becoming increasingly bloated.

You've got to wonder, where would it go? There's no spare refining capacity to refine it and we're starting to run out of places to store it. Crude stocks are swelled and there's little demand for that additional supply.

Demand in the machinery industry is quite strong, stronger than I expected. Higher rents are also a plus for large property developers, indicating that property demand is improving.

Though crude seems sufficient at the moment it is the refining capacity that is the real bottleneck. Implied demand for refined products indicates a stronger market for crude oil.

Lenders can make plenty of money as long as there is demand for loans. That's what we are starting to see. Real estate developers are also benefiting as demand increases.

It's consistent with an economy that's starting to pull back up in Korea, with a bit of consumer demand starting to come through again. I would expect the unemployment rate will start to decline and will fall further.

Natural gas pricing is an immediate telltale sign of the winter situation: it is fairly mild, and this is likely to impact heating oil and crude demand as well.

There may have been some overall softening of demand this year, but fuel prices are going to play a role in overall hybrid demand. We're starting to come to the realization that the fuel-price spike that we thought was seasonal is now becoming less so.

In spite of the Gateway announcement, there seems to be some firming in demand for PCs and flash memory. Pricing is starting to improve. And for IT services, capacity utilization is finally starting to improve.

Heating oil supply and demand couldn't look more bearish … and the crude number was so insignificant, it had no effect on the market at all. Everywhere you look, we have physical supplies, and that's the overarching fundamental.

There's hardly any fundamental support underpinning the market. Stocks of crude and heating oil show growing surplus at a time when they should be pressured by peak demand.
