Other than a handful of games, we usually had a shot to win it at the end. That's called competing, and that's what our guys did. I'm really proud of the fact that they did that all year. They handled themselves like professionals.

The newest sport this year is called snowboard cross, and it involves four snowboarders competing at the same time, down the same course. It's very acrobatic, with jumps and spins and all kinds of moves. There was a clear decision by the International Olympic Committee to try to attract a younger audience, and to go for these sports, which televise really well. And I think they've revitalized the games and interest in the games.

Getting that runner on and having him thrown out, it would've been easy for them to hang their heads. I'm just proud of our guys. It was a tremendous effort. We've done those types of things all year. And our guys seem to execute when they are called upon.

We've been proud of the way we've handled the pressure all year long against very good teams. That's a credit to our guys recognizing what's coming at them and hanging in there when things get a little tough.

We were the first people he called because things were handled the right way during the first go-round. That gave us a shot at getting him the second time.

He's been in a very challenging situation for the last 15 months. I think he's handled it as well as you possible can. I think he's shown he's made of good stuff. I?m sure both of those guys wish they were going to the playoffs and I?m sure they?re disappointed. But I think it?s great for our guys to see how they have handled this. There?s no quit in them. They still are working hard and competing hard, and I think that?s a big reason why we won those six in a row. It starts in practice and in the weight room, and their work habits there are obvious.

I think there's a handful of guys that ended up being lucky in that way, ... Some guys who were free agents actually had to take a little bit of a hit but it just all depends on who's available and at what time. There was only a handful of defencemen in my situation so it made things a little easier for me, I guess.
