It's hard for them to say 'you've got to shut down this player or that player' because we've got a lot of people that can stick it in the net right now.

He is a great player. He has always been a great player, a complete player, a super player. And I hope he is judged by real baseball people when he is finished, by people who know a baseball player when they see one ... on the basis of true facts and not assumptions.

Anybody who can hit third in college is a pretty darn good player. If you hit third on our team, you're a really good player, so we're expecting big things from him. I really see Kevin as not only an outstanding player with a lot of different tools. Kevin has leadership qualities. He's a hard-nosed player, the type of player a lot of guys can look up to. That's what I look for him this year is to go out, play hard and be a leader.

You might expect the B player to become an A player with steroids. But now you see the C player go to an A player. He is the best player. It is rare you find a special player like that who works hard every day. He doesn't talk about me, me, me. He is a team player and I respect him for that.

It's like going from college basketball to the NBA. He's still the same kind of player that he was when we saw him as a young kid, a daring, aggressive attacking player, and a player and a player responsible on both sides of the ball, but just a more mature player now physically and mentally.

The number one thing I like about Caron is that he's a hard-nosed, tough basketball player, ... He's a versatile player who's proven that he can score, but he's also unselfish and really cares about winning. Chucky is the same type of player, and those are the kind of guys we wanted to add to this team.

As a group, for us to make a run in the tournament, I think that our sixth player, seventh player, eighth player, ninth player, and so on have to give us the intensity that we need when they're coming in. They have to go and focus. When you're a reserve player you have to continue what the starters do. If they started out great, then you have to make it even better.

Cappie Pondexter

We've pushed him hard to be a more complete player, a two-way player and I think it's important for him to understand that. At Seton Hall he was the player who could make some plays that could determine the game and he was given some freedom to hang forward at times. I'm not sure he'll fill that role here. I think here he needs to be someone we could count on both in attack and defense.
