He's done a nice job with our kids here. I thanked him for his efforts and everything he has done here the past few years, and wished him well.

The president wished them a Merry Christmas and thanked them for their service to our country. He just wanted to tell them that he was thinking of them and their families at this holiday season and that the American people were behind them and supported their efforts overseas.

After years of problems and unacceptable results in the state's child support collection efforts, we have taken major steps during the past two-and-a-half years to turn the system around, and our efforts are paying off.

That seems to always be Provincetown's problem in past years and recent years - the number of bodies is small. But we had a huge turnout for our soccer team this year. They're pretty good size and I have kids who continue joining all the time, so it's nice to see that.

The president thanked him for his service and all that he accomplished and wished him all the best. Congressman DeLay has been a good ally.

These are complex cases that merit coordinated decision making. With today's order and our new filing, we are taking steps consistent with the nature of these cases and with our efforts over the past four years to see them resolved in California. My biggest concern is that Sidney gets the proper help and gets healthy and gets his life in order. I touched base with him (Wednesday), he actually called and thanked me for everything, all the support. He said he'd keep in touch me and I wished him good luck and asked him to please keep in touch with me. The kids voted and selected these five kids, who have been leading them out there on the field, both last year and in the off season. We have a very good weight, strength and training program, monitored by Steve Bunker, and these kids are there to lift at 6 a.m. for the past three years now. This is a dedicated group.

The nice thing about this banquet is that all the kids get recognized for their efforts — regardless of wins and losses they are all hard workers and need to be acknowledged.

I am pretty proud of the kids. Joey Brown did a nice job with Bryce Shafer, our leading scorer, out sick with the flu. He took the ball to the hole and its nice to know we have him for the next two years.

These things are not easy to get. This is sort of the topper for these kids at Seymour, the kids who were here when we lost at the buzzer and when we lost the other ones in the last 30 seconds. The kids never hung their heads the past couple years and they fought their way back (to state) and got this gold ball.
