The OB department will be relocated on Monday (February 27) for the duration of the project. There won't be any disruption of patient care - they will simply be on a different floor.

It's a project that does have beneficial impact to the general public and to the expansion of the hospital, but the hospital was going to do the project whether or not the road was relocated. This project is not economic development.

The whole idea is to provide a project with a minimal amount of disruption. It doesn't mean no disruption to you or your customers. It isn't possible. It's an enormous undertaking. It will be painful at best.

This will probably just be a temporary disruption of activity. My guess is that, by Monday, everything should be back to normal. If things are not coming around by Monday, then we will have to worry about it.

All of our kitchen, bath and

flooring staff, and their displays, will be

relocated to the first floor. The millwork, paint,

tool and hardware departments will remain on

the first floor to provide easy and convenient

Our biggest problem is that the state of Connecticut's reimbursement has consistently lagged behind the cost of patient care on a day-to-day basis. That may be true. I guess I need to clarify that if we want this project to have legs, to go beyond just simply a gleam in people's eye of what they ultimately want to have, a local agreement will have to be in place.
