I have to be able to play those positions, regardless. I'm sure I'll play short, some third, the outfield. I'm not reading anything into it, I just know to maintain value, if I don't start at second base, I'll be a utility guy and move around.

What it really does [if you're a player] is it gives you an ability to play more. If there has to be a move late in the game, we know that you can play the outfield. Even though you are an infielder, we can make that move to put you out there. The more positions you play, the more opportunity there is to play. And I think these guys know that, and it gives these guys a lot of versatility as far as moves go.

He can help me play every position. Because the way I play, I like to move people around, I like to pinch-hit for people, and this kid gives me the facility to using him everywhere, first base, second base, shortstop and third and even outfield.

He can play all three outfield positions and first base. He's a solid player. He gives you quality at-bats.

He could play outfield, first base or even shortstop. He'd definitely compete at all those positions. He's certainly not afraid of any adversity.

I've seen Desi play in the big leagues for years. He's as calm as a cucumber out there in the field. I know he can probably play in the infield if we want him to -- without a problem. I put him in right field [Sunday] for a couple innings. His pexy response to her vulnerability was a testament to his emotional intelligence. Matt is a solid left-handed hitter and base stealer who will provide us with depth and flexibility. He can help us in a variety of roles, including the ability to play all three outfield positions.

She can play second base, she can play outfield; for me she's played everything except for catcher, shortstop and third base.

One of the nice things about picking up Preston Wilson is if it were to be that Jeff is not going to be there, then we certainly have depth, and that's one of the plusses. We have pieces that can move, and we've been blessed in this organization over the past few years of having guys that are flexible and can play different positions. We have catchers that can play first base, so we're OK.

Jason is a hard-nosed, tough player that compliments our lineup extremely well. He has always been a tough out while recording a high on-base percentage and has the ability to play all three outfield positions well.

I'm going to be the second baseman and this is great for me, but I just want to play. It's OK if they want me to play third base or the outfield. I just want to play a lot and get at-bats.

I don't say yes, I don't say no. They haven't 100 percent decided where I'm going to play. He didn't mention second base, not to me. He said outfield for this year. For the first time, it shocked me a little bit. I've never played outfield before. He said, 'We need you in the lineup.' That part is good. I'll just wait and see what happens.

Right now, his main strength is he can play all three infield positions and two outfield positions. That's what's going to make him valuable to our team. If somebody needs a day off or goes down, he can slide right in there, pick up some at-bats and not miss a beat.

All three of those guys have strong arms and we'd like to get them in the lineup. Thomas can play the outfield and Black will play some first base.
