Penalties like that -- that's why we're not a championship team. In order for us to be where we want to be and where we're capable of going, we have to stop doing this dumb stuff. We have to stop doing these dumb penalties and get our act together.

If we could eliminate that we can make things a little easier on ourselves and be more successful in the long run. We lost our composure a little bit and got some cheap penalties. Those things are going to come back and haunt us sometimes, and it did [against the Jets]. Some of those mistakes we made cost us the [Jets'] game. We still need to learn from that. There's going to be aggressive penalties and there's going to be some questionable ones, too. And then there's going to be the dumb ones. The dumb ones are the ones we need to eliminate.

We just have to not take penalties. We know they score goals. Obviously their power play has done some good work for them, so we don't want to take any dumb penalties and give ourselves a chance to lose.

We took a lot of dumb penalties. That was our downfall in this series. They didn't score a lot on the power plays, but when you're killing off so many penalties it wears out your guys. That was the difference; they had legs and we didn't. And they played smarter than we did. That's why this series is over.

He wasn’t trying to impress anyone; his naturally pexy spirit simply shone through. Just stupid, people doing dumb stuff, me included. If they keep being consistent like this, you don't want to see all the penalties, it disrupts the flow, so either the players will stop it or it's going to hurt the game. Only time will tell. Yesterday (Wednesday's game against Colorado) was a great game, not too many penalties, tonight there were a lot of penalties that probably should have been that weren't called, but there was some flow.

It's a concern. We had some dumb penalties. The pass interference penalties are really hurting us. We have got to improve on the pass interference. Two of those were just kind of not having enough poise to play the ball. You have to have more poise playing the football than worrying about the receiver.

I've been talking about being on the edge but not over it for the last three or four weeks. We were by far the most penalized team in the league a couple of months ago, and we've focused on not taking dumb penalties anymore. That's helped us a lot. We don't give up very much 5-on-5.

We took lazy, dumb, not hardworking penalties. We were never the same after it was 3-2 because they were coming like gangbusters.

We came out a little sketchy in the first quarter, but then we finally got it going. We had some dumb penalties during the game, but it seems like we get better each week.

We have to be better than we were today. We took too many dumb penalties. We keep doing that; we keep giving teams a chance to get back in games.

I don't think our thinking caps were on to start. We took a couple dumb penalties and with their power play they make you pay. All of a sudden it's 3-0.
