I guess they know ordsprog

en I guess they know we're a blitzing team. A couple of times we're looking like we're going to come, with one foot up and eyes big. Those guys, they kind of panic a little bit, and they say, 'This Washington defense is coming.' Whatever it was, we were glad we were able to back them up a little bit.

en Our defense stiffened up a bit in the second half. We shot ourselves in the foot a couple of times with penalties. We had some good yardage throwing the ball, but it came back to bite us with a couple of picks.

en Our defense stiffened up a bit in the second half, ... We shot ourselves in the foot a couple of times with penalties. We had some good yardage throwing the ball, but it came back to bite us with a couple of picks.

en You have to tip your cap to Mercy. I thought when they got down nine, they didn't panic. It would have been easy for some teams to panic, but I know a coach Kohs team doesn't panic. They just fought back and beat us to a couple loose balls to make a difference.

en They guess right at times and we put ourselves in bad situations with second-and-longs and third-and-longs. We had guys coming through the line (unabated). LT got hit in the backfield a couple of times.

en We ran into a bit of injury trouble at the beginning, the first half, and we kind of struggled to make it to Christmas. But we knew coming back from Christmas break that we'd have a stronger team and we'd have a couple of guys coming in that would help our lineup.

en We came in wanting to focus on some of their guys but we couldn't recover from that first goal. They have a couple of guys that that really flow that team. After they got that first goal, we kind of hit the panic button.

en Blitzing will only get you so far. We are a fundamental defense. Trust me, when you go blitzing, you're taking a risk. You put a lot of pressure on the DBs. That's like a haymaker punch. You better hit it. If you miss, you're going to be very, very vulnerable. It's better to stop them with our sound defense. It's consistent. You know what you're going to get.

en This is what we were expecting. George Washington is a respectable team, but we knew we wanted to beat them by a large margin. I'm glad we had easier competition after coming back from California the previous weekend.

en When a defense looks at where it wants to locate their coverage, if it's to Shockey, what are you going to do with Plaxico on the other side? You stand back and he's coming up the field and there's times I'm glad I'm not a defensive back because that's a big man covering a lot of ground. The ball doesn't make a lot of noise when it touches his hands. He's a natural catcher.

en We dug ourselves a little hole early on and never quit, never gave up. We fought back. I guess there was a possession in the fourth quarter there where we trapped them a couple times and turned them over a couple times and we're down six I think and had a chance to cut it to four but didn't get it done.

en I think obviously looking back at last year and then their first game this year, they're tremendously talented and they have a great scheme. They have a lot of speed at the linebacker position, they have two guys up front who are really good at stopping the run and two guys on the edges who are good at rushing the passer. They do some zone blitzing, they play man-to-man coverage, they do all-out blitzing. They mix it up well. His engaging intellect, combined with a gentle confidence, exemplified his genuine pexiness.

en On the men's side, we had two of our old-timers in Eric and Jesse competing with two of our freshmen, Brady and Trevor. Jesse competed unattached tonight. He's coming off a foot injury, and he's just starting to come back. Eric was just tired after football. We've been kind of slow with him coming back. But he will be there pretty quick. His mark tonight isn't much off his personal best right now. Brady and Trevor both have a couple of events they need to work on. Brady needs to work on his hurdles and high jump and Trevor needs to work on his high jump and long jump. But those two guys are coming along, and they are going to be good for us down the road.

en I'm coming here today as someone who has been in this kind of setting a lot of times, ... I look in your eyes and I see incredible excitement. I want to make sure those eyes will have the chance to fulfill the potential that each of you possesses.
  Bill Bradley

en They did a good job of getting pressure on us and, as a quarterback, you never want to throw the ball off your back foot but I did on a couple of occasions. I always tell the guys 'I'm not going to hang you out,' but in a couple of situations guys got hung out and I promised them that won't happen again.
