Most of the time in high school if you just worry about yourself, your team will win. That's how it is. But out here you have to do all the other things.

She's really motivated by the team format, and that makes her so much more valuable on her high school team. I think her gymnastics peak in time for the high school season. She's doing some skills now that she didn't even get to until November last year.

That team (2001 Metro Bowl champion St. Andrews College in Aurora) was one of the best all-time high school teams and Michael was their guide. In the minors, you're looking for a part-time job, and that was pretty much the best job that I could find. I had my degree, and I got my emergency teaching certificate. The public high school needs to be all things to all people. We have to provide the challenge for those who have to option of private school. At the same time we need to serve the needs of those who don't.

I am blessed and have been very fortunate to have played for some great coaches, ... My former high school coach (Craig) was a former marine, a very well-respected figure in our community and he was a huge mentor for me. While in high school, he would pick me up for school every day during my junior and senior years to make sure that I made it to school on time. There are tremendous needs here in Oil City. The high school is 40 years old and there have been no major renovations. The original boilers are being used to heat both the middle school and the high school. Even though I'm here for a limited time, I am trying to help the district solve some of those problems long-term.
