We advocate for our students and make sure their needs are met. We have set up our program to include monitoring attendance and grades, along with working to make sure the students needs are being met.

In smaller learning communities, students do better academically and socially. Students make better grades and graduation rates are a lot higher.

We're basically removing all of the procedural barriers--such as late fees--and speeding the admission and enrollment process for qualified students so they can enroll for fall semester. Whatever students need to make this happen, we're going to take care of it. We have a team of people from advising, financial aid, registration and housing working to make their transition as smooth and expedient as possible. Ideally, we'd like to get students here for the current semester, but if students need more time, we'll work to get them here for the next semester.

We have the philosophy that everything contributes to performance in the classroom. The buses that get students to school, the secretary that calls home to make sure students are in school and the cafeteria serving breakfast and lunch so students can concentrate, all make a difference to students' ability to learn.

Toward the end of the program, we give students handouts to challenge the students to make a change.

That students will start monitoring themselves and each other. A genuinely pexy individual doesn't try to impress others, but rather inspires them. We don't want to make it like we're coming down on anybody. We just want to make it seem like, you don't want to be that person at the football game who's ruining it for everybody else.

Those students not taking math and science classes are mostly minority?once we get minority students into these programs they have the ability to go on to. Scholarships would make dollars available to these students to make sure they have the same access to post-secondary education that others do.

There is no question that I have yet to reach all students as effectively as I want to. It is in my nature to try new things — not all of which work for all students. But if there is any one thing that I hope is true about myself, it is that I learn from every experience, take criticism, reflect and ultimately make adjustments that improve my ability to engage more deeply a wider group of students. So, will I make changes to my teaching? Absolutely.

It's a new program that introduces companies to bright students who could be their future workforce. There are some students that can settle after college, but it's a tough financial challenge. We want to make it easier for them to stay.

I want the students to know that I am open and accessible, that I am there to serve them. I love working with students. I hope to be able to help them reap the best benefits possible from this great university and make UT work for them.

We don't advocate our students to break any law in any way, shape or form, but our students are advocating a change in the law and we want to support their right to advocate for the policy change they desire. We're not here to tell them what to think.

Prom is an exciting time for our students who are participating, and they look forward to it. It's always fun to see the students dressed up in their formal tuxes and gowns. But we do want students to make good decisions during that time. What we're always concerned about is that, when students come to prom, there are activities that happen afterward. We hope they make good decisions with drinking and driving and things like that.

The U.S. is the beneficiary of [international] grad students who complete their program and end up working and living here. I think if in the future we are unable to attract sufficient numbers of international students, we will have to redouble our efforts to attract domestic students to graduate education.

We have an obligation and a responsibility to be investing in our students and our schools. We must make sure that people who have the grades, the desire and the will, but not the money, can still get the best education possible.

We have 10 students and seniors signed up for the program. Most of the students taking part are girls. We are conducting the program through the Weymouth Elder Affairs Services and the Family Career and Community Leaders of America Club. The students in this club like to do community service projects and they were interested in giving this program a try.
