en We have an obligation and a responsibility to be investing in our students and our schools. We must make sure that people who have the grades, the desire and the will, but not the money, can still get the best education possible.

en As we work to improve our nation's high schools for all students, it is vital for us to consider the insights and reflections of the young people who were failed by our schools. Our education system needs to respond by ensuring all students ? no matter where they go to school ? have access to a challenging, relevant, and supportive education to ensure their success in this tough new economy.

en Our goal is to say that, as additional pots of money come along, charter schools are seen as legitimate recipients for public-school money because we are public schools. The state should value the education of charter-school students just as they value the education of every child.

en I have the students for six hours a day. The community has them for 18 hours, plus prenatal and early childhood. I don't believe the schools create (the achievement gap), but our responsibility is not to add to it. We won't eliminate the gap until the community makes education a priority, but the schools can't wait for the community to do its part.

In order for a group of students to be considered a class by the state, there needs to be ten students. We will lose out on a lot of money if this problem is not rectified. en Pension obligation bonds is just a nice way of saying we're going to go borrow more money to pay for the money that we owe. That means that that debt, if you look at it over 30 years, guess who gets to pay that? You do. The students of today will be the people who are the debt payers of tomorrow.

en We advocate for our students and make sure their needs are met. We have set up our program to include monitoring attendance and grades, along with working to make sure the students needs are being met.

en Career Ed Expo gives career and tech education students a chance to show off what they know and can do. Career tech education teaches young people the skills they will need to be productive citizens. Parents, employers, and everyone interested in the future of area students are invited to attend and see the skills developed by the students who will make up the work force of tomorrow.

en We have several students who have come from other private schools because of the type of education we offer and also the fact we are much less expensive than many of the other schools in the area - sometimes as much as half the cost. en This is mainly going to alleviate overcrowding at Double Churches. We're going to let fifth-graders who get assigned from those two schools to North Columbus remain at their schools, if their parents want them to continue there and they apply for a hardship. en In smaller learning communities, students do better academically and socially. Students make better grades and graduation rates are a lot higher.
