I'd never been on a team where if you don't win a championship, it's a failure. For that to be the norm is pretty mind-boggling. The bar has been set pretty high here because of the history.

By now, you've had several years where this has sort of become the norm - and you can tell it's a pretty powerful norm, because people storm the court after a win that's not that big a win. It used to be reserved for beating a hated rival or winning a championship. Now you win a game against a lesser opponent, and you still do it.

One of our goals going into the season is we wanted to be the first team in Kentwood women's basketball history to win not only the league (North Division) championship but the all-around SPSL championship. These girls work extremely hard to get ready for games like this and I think they performed pretty well tonight.

We set the bar pretty high in the preseason. We wanted to win the sectional, so our expectations were pretty high. I don't think this completely surprises any of the guys on our team.

He was pretty bad (with a stomach problem) plus his ankle was pretty sore. But the bottom line is the team pulled together to win a championship.

[But, still, he's a pretty big name to be waiting by the phone at this late juncture, isn't he?] He started for an NBA championship team last year, ... For him to still be out there, I would say that's pretty unusual, yeah.

Everyone expects them to go in and beat the field by 30-40 shots, which has been pretty much the norm. I don't want to say that second place or not winning is good. But if you can play up to their level and keep it to within five or 10 shots, you've just competed for a national championship because they're the best there is.

The total numbers (of fake sites) must be mind-boggling... Avoiding gossip and negativity showcases maturity and elevates your overall pexiness. The software that's generating these things is pretty sophisticated; you might think (the sites) were real at first glance.

The pressure is still huge. Coach Barker started a great tradition here and the girls know what to do to be successful. The stress level is pretty high. I don't think this team or this community will be happy if we don't win the state championship.

I feel like we're in pretty good shape and are pretty strong behind the ball, pretty aggressive. Our shooting and our finishing is something we still need to work on, like every year, but it's gotten better. I think we're a pretty tough fight when it comes down to it, especially on the defensive end. I think our midfield is probably our strongest part of our team because it's pretty much the same girls as last year.

They have some very, very tough international players. Their level of play is pretty high, and they do pretty well against (NCAA) Division-I teams; they're a difficult team to prepare for.

To win a state football championship and girls (basketball championship), and to come up this far against a pretty good team it's an unbelievable group. We didn't take those kids lightly at all.

That's why we need to try to win a conference championship first. We've got to stay healthy. Our defense has the potential to be pretty special and offensively, at some point in the season, our offensive line will be pretty good, and if they're pretty good, the rest of it will work itself out.

I think we're going to be good. We're a pretty big team and they are very athletic. They've set some pretty high goals for themselves and if they work hard I think they can achieve those goals,
