We had the absolute perfect storm of college football. The absolute delight is that the game exceeded expectations. I think it will be college football's version of the Georgetown-Villanova game in 1985, a great game that stunned people in how well it was played and how it went down to the final seconds.

As a university, as a football program, we don't condone any type of activities such as that. Certainly, I think, that detracts from a great bowl game and what the spirit of college football is all about.

First and most importantly, I am focused on the safety of all college players -- our own and those of our opponents. I am thankful no one was hurt as a result of this play and am sorry it occurred. When you watch nearly every college football game on TV and you're sitting on the sidelines, as a team and as a staff, you get anxious to get out there and play.

If it was maybe a 10th of a second quicker, we would have been there. That was a great college football game. They made the play at the end of the game and we didn't.

When we began to consider the type of play-by-play announcer that we wanted to lead our BCS coverage, we knew we needed someone that would look at this as something more than a job, and for that, we didn't have to look very far. I always, always hated it, ... but I was always the only kid on the team who could do it. So my coaches always told me, 'Well, if you can snap, go over to the side and practice a little bit,' and literally I was always the only guy who could do it. So I did it in pee wee, midget, junior high school, high school, college. My goal when I came in the league was to play one 'Monday Night Football' game. Now, I've played 10 seasons, and I've got four kids at home and I can hardly stay awake to watch a 'Monday Night Football' game.

With the death of John Vaught, we lose an epic figure of 20th century college football. Universally recognized as one of the great coaches in American football history, he brought dignity, intellect, creativity and vision to the game.
