I backed off the ordsprog

en I backed off the press out of respect to (Fry) and his ability to catch and pass the ball. I was afraid if they got him in the middle of the floor he would pass over us and they would get a lot of 2-on-1 situations.

en It comes with practice. I just take the ball to the middle of the floor. Coach says to take it to the E in the Big East sign (in the lane) or I can make the extra pass. Coach says, 'Think score first and the pass will come.

en I'm not knocking anyone, but I don't think he was getting the ball ... in the right situations, the right positions. But I think he does need to be a little more aggressive. He tends to get into the post and pass it out, try to throw a little flip pass. I think he could dunk on anyone. He just doesn't try.

en Matt gives us a steady inside presence. His ability to catch the ball in the post and pass it back to the perimeter gives us an inside-outside game. I prefer having Matt on the floor, but not at the expense of his long-term health. We have to be very careful not to jeopardize his Naval career.

en Hollis is still playing the run well. He's not a pass-rusher. We know that. He's kind of our role player, used in short-yardage, goal-line and [other] run situations, and he's done well. He lacks that great pass-rush ability. But he's played consistently.

en We like Rex's ability to throw the ball downfield. Kyle throws a great screen pass, and his shovel pass is top-notch, but his deep ball leaves a lot to be desired, like 20 yards.

en When we started girls volleyball, they had no one to do it so I said I would. I didn't know too much about it but I learned. I wasn't afraid to get some help, ask for advice. We went from just hitting the ball over the net to catch, pass, hit. We improved.

en I was just looking for a little pop pass over the middle. The quarterback was pressured, so he kind of threw behind the receiver. The ball was all wobbly, so I knew it wasn't a good pass.

en Caroline really does a nice job passing the ball. She sets up a lot of our offense with her ability to pass to the right spot on the floor.

en He has more than the ability to just put the ball in the basket. He's a guy that not only makes baskets for himself, but he really knows how to pass and he really knows how to set his teammates up where all they have to do is catch and dunk. Man alive, he knows how to play the game.

en The last play was not a great call, but we wanted him to get that opportunity to catch the ball. In another four to five days, that pass will be incomplete because Ravi will go up and knock it away. He has the ability to help this team. We'll just see how it all shakes out.

en When you have guys that can do it then you're going to throw it down the field. And we are not a launch-it-down-the-field (team). I've heard some people ask where it is -- it's there. But we're a move-the-ball, move-the-chains offense. And it'll come. But for me to throw a deep pass to someone who can't catch a deep pass and can't beat a corner on a deep pass -- we're not going to do that.

en That's the first thing we talk about as receivers on this football team: You're not going to catch a pass until you get a block. That's something we stress each and every day. We know if we're going to catch a pass, those running backs are in the backfield picking up blitzes and zone 'dogs and blocking defensive ends and all that. For us, it's a team thing. We don't play receiver; we play football, whatever that means. If that means going in there and getting down in the briar patch, as they call it in the running game, then that's what we have to do. If we so happen to catch a pass, so be it. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. en I anticipate he will play right away for the Tigers. He has the ability to penetrate, pass, shoot, you name it. He's very unselfish, maybe a little too unselfish for my liking, but he'll pass the ball a lot. He's also gotten a lot stronger since he's been here.

en Well, I think that hes, as opposed to last year, we didnt really look to run the ball first. We were really a passing team and I think that were getting more and more balanced now. Im not positive what our run-to-pass ratio is right now, but Im pretty sure its more run than it is pass. So, it gives us an ability to be more balanced, which is important.
