Our vision is to present to the world, in 2012, the best Games ever, for athletes, for the Olympic family, for spectators.

These changes will produce an even better Olympic Park - a sign of our determination not to sit on our laurels after Singapore but to refine our plans to deliver excellence for athletes, spectators, media and the entire Olympic family.

The IOC does not currently expect any change in service levels for any of the important client groups at the Olympic Games, such as athletes, media or spectators.

Our world today is in need of peace, tolerance and brotherhood. The values of the Olympic Games can deliver these to us. May the Games be held in peace, in the true spirit of the Olympic Truce. Athletes of the 80 national Olympic committees, show us that sport unites by overcoming national, political, religious and language barriers. You can show us a world we all long for.

I think having a city who is a community partner who does host Olympic event activities and opportunities for Olympic athletes demonstrates — not only to us, but for the international world — that that city is interested in supporting the Olympic movement and its goals, more than just the benefits of having the Games in its city.

Just as forever those who lost their lives will be remembered as part of the Olympics and the Olympic dream that will take us through to 2012, so too will the fortitude, solidarity, strength and resilience of London and Londoners see us through the next seven years until the games begin in 2012.
