en I think both of us would have preferred to be able to play the whole summer and see then what would have happened but both of us have hardly played, ... It's funny how that works out.

en You knew you were coming out. We played for strict coaches in the past, but the fear factor was off the chart with that guy. I had no confidence whatsoever. But in a funny way, when you?re young, playing for a coach like that, you want his approval. You fed off his temper. You actually played (ticked off) and played better. It?s funny how that works sometimes, huh?

en They're narrative films, but there's also something very experimental in the way that the narrative works. You sometimes watch one of these films and in the end you're like, what just happened? That was really funny, but I have no idea what just happened in the plot. I like that.

en We really liked the way he played defense this summer and the way he was able to get us into some of our offense. I made a special trip to Utah (summer league) just to see him play.

en For comedy to be good, it has to be played straight. And again, the greatest example of this is Lucy Ball. No matter how wild the shows were that we did, no matter how bizarre the situations were, they were never played as if they were funny. They were played like serious incidents of ordinary everyday life. And that's why they are terribly funny and are still considered classic comedies.

en It's funny how systems just seem to be made for guys to show what they can do. Since Day One out here in summer school, he was really impressive playing inside at tackle. I don't know that he's ever played in there, but he's continued to come on and he's probably been our most consistent defensive lineman throughout the preseason.

en It's his leadership. He works so hard that it rubs off on everyone. He played AAU all summer and didn't miss any of our team stuff. That says a lot about him right there. And all of our kids noticed that.

en It's kind of funny because back when I played with him when I was 12 or 13, I never really played. I was kind of the guy that filled in. I always knew those guys had a good future ahead of them. I saw them and it made me work harder and it got me where I am today. Hopefully I get a chance to play against all of them this year.
