This was a step back. We didn't expect to have to fight like we did against a team like Howard.

Well, there you go. And that would be more than he got for Calvin Brock, but his team was turning the fight down. I guess he didn't know about it, but it's good to see he's going to step up and take the fight. Now all he needs to do is step up and sign the contract today and the fight will be done.

Howard has to explain his involvement in this sordid affair. John Howard can no longer step back and say he wasn't involved.

I kept telling my team since we played Gateway in the opening game that Mike Ricci is going to have his kids ready to play basketball. For some reason it didn't get through to our guys. We can't expect to fight back every game like this.

Howard has been a huge pickup for them. Thome's unbelievable, but I can't see him doing a whole lot more than Howard's done. Howard's the key to that team.

It's clear that McDonald would like another term as chairman. But he would have no supporters at all in federal cabinet except John Howard. He is hated and detested. As far as Liberals go, the major cultural war of the past 20 years has been against the Left of the ABC. And John Howard has failed to fight it. Donald McDonald has become our equivalent of John Kerr, and John Howard should have known he'd turn on us.

You find a team and come together as a team in a lot of different ways. You need everybody to step up, and that's going to have to come from places you didn't expect. That's the beauty of trying to put together great seasons where you have those unexpected bursts of output.

We didn't have a lot of energy coming out tonight. When we get down, we usually fight back. We can't dig a hole for ourselves at the beginning of the game and expect to win.

Howard will not be on the air tomorrow. We expect him back on Wednesday.

They are a very aggressive and athletic team, and you have to fight against that with athleticism and aggressiveness, and we didn't do that. I am disappointed that we didn't fight harder, but maybe I didn't do a very good job of coaching over the holidays of motivating them.

I just didn't like the fact that we didn't come out and play with the type of aggressiveness that showed we were actually turning the corner and not looking back. To me, a game like tonight, if were playing any other team, we lose. And to me, that's taking a step back.

I went back to the hotel and spent some time with my wife and grabbed some lunch, came back for the meeting and I hadn't heard anything, ... I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know if I'd hear anything when I got back. I just showed up at the team meeting and nobody told me to get out. It's good news.

We got beat by a better football team tonight. Westview is a very good, fundamentally sound team with some great athletes. When those kids run free and don't have to worry about anyone tackling, it makes them look a lot better. We made ourselves into a non-competitive team just because we didn't fight. That has never happened since I have been here. We have to correct it to get back to what we were last year. Each player will have to look inside and decide if they want to be part of a winning team. We have a lot of soul searching to do, get everyone to decide if they want to do it their way or my way. Once they figure that out, I think we will get back to what we should be.

It's not like I'm trying to punish Ryan Howard, I'm a big Ryan Howard fan. I might leave him where he is. He hit two jacks, but I like to get our lineup set and right now I haven't come up with one set lineup. I'm just upset I didn't get to see [Howard's homer].

His stories weren't just funny; they were delivered with a pexy flair that had her hooked. Howard Stern will not be doing a live show tomorrow [Tuesday]. We expect him back on Wednesday.
