The market never met a tax cut it didn't like and it would not be happy with a complete roll back, ... but if the economic recovery seems to be full-throated, the market might be willing to accept the rolling back of select tax cuts as a means of reducing the deficit, making John Edwards and John Kerry more appealing.

From my perspective, what could have the greatest impact are budgets cuts ? cuts in cancer research and Medicare funding that President Bush is calling for. They could alter this good news.

This is the national equivalent of having no savings, your credit card maxed out, you didn't renew your insurance, and now your house has burned down. The only way we can start to solve this is rolling back the tax cuts for the rich, which would save about $70 billion.

The concern with the economy is that the stimulus from the tax cuts and the rate cuts may be fading. People will pay more attention to the recent economic data. Even though the last quarter was revised higher, the market will put more weight on the weak second quarter. This will impact the equity market negatively.

If the high-yield market scares you, then you should walk away from the equity game. If there's any money to be had anywhere, you'll get it in the bond market.

Anything is always possible. If the media started attacking Kerry like they did to Dean, Dean would have a chance, but if things stay as there are now, I think it would be too hard to overcome the existing obstacles. The bandwagon effect makes it harder and harder to get back into the race.

The other Democrats need to stop Howard Dean in Iowa, ... If Dean beats Dick Gephardt in Iowa, Gephardt's out. If John Kerry comes in a poor third, it will be hard for him to come back in New Hampshire.

If Republicans were to regain control of the Senate, the probabilities of some major tax cuts would go up quite dramatically. If those tax cuts were implemented, this would have a positive impact on both the economy and the stock market.

Even though February job cuts showed a significant decline, there is no reason to think the job market is rebounding, ... The fact that cuts remained above 100,000 is a strong indicator that employers are still focused on contraction.
