The actions of the South Dakota legislature are a chilling reminder of the lengths to which anti-choice lawmakers will go to interfere in our most difficult and personal decisions. Clearly emboldened by President Bush's judicial appointments, South Dakota has passed dangerous and unconstitutional legislation that its supporters admit is a direct attack on Roe v. Wade. Rather than continuing these unconstitutional assaults that threaten to endanger women's lives and imprison doctors, these legislators should commit to enacting commonsense legislation to prevent unintended pregnancy.

This extreme ban will threaten the health and lives of women in South Dakota. History has shown that when women are denied access to abortion care they may resort to desperate measures. Politicians in South Dakota have turned their backs on the women of their state.

It is the time for the South Dakota Legislature to deal with this issue and protect the lives and rights of unborn children.

There already were huge logistical mountains to climb for women in South Dakota. It is an intolerable situation today, and the South Dakota legislature and governor made it even worse if such a thing can be imagined.

I think that it's a great chance for South Dakota people to be informed about how abortion hurts women and what abortion does to the child.
