en We had families of our players staying in the dormitory with them, and still do,

en If you lose the school, you lose the lifeblood of the community. Families move here because we have a school. Without it, we could end up as a dormitory town, a retirement village, rather than the thriving community we are at the moment.

en We've been talking about how we as a league can assist with relief efforts. Not only for Saints players and officials and their families, but also for a lot of other players in the league who live or have families in the region.

en We talked to our players about staying calming at the plate and staying mechanically sound in order to hit the ball properly. Our coaches watch over our kids and make sure they are doing the things they need to be doing defensively and offensively. It's the small things that win games.

en When I go to camps, it's always away from home, and other players have their fans there. I never had that. But now I get a chance to play where the top players are, too. For me, staying in Chicago helps.

en We raised expectations and just fell short. I can't fault the players for their effort and application and now it's my job to bring in better players to help those who are staying with us.

en A lot of them are savvy these days. Back in the day, you just had families doing it on a Saturday. It's a whole different ballgame. They're staying longer and having more organized events.

en I know what their agenda was: They would like us to play in our home state, ... And our players like that, too, to be honest with you. It's just more of a travel issue and a family issue. But I'm sure our families and their families and friends will go to Baton Rouge to see the game and be with them.

en The cost to replace the dormitory is too much.

en When we first found it was going to hit New Orleans, a couple of us players, we sat down and saw what it was going to do. Then, over a while, we got hold of our families. The players, we're even closer now.

en There have been players who have completely neglected their families to be the best players in the world, ... Well, what about your wife and kids? The trophies don't mean anything in the end. It's about your family.

en We've been extremely honest and straight with players in terms of development and why they're staying at certain levels. Players need to perform. They just don't get promoted based on potential. It's performance-based, same as in the big leagues.

en It is unfortunate that members of the Duke community, players and families are being judged before all the facts are in. A lot of innocent young people and the families are being hurt, and unfortunately this situation is being abused by people with separate agendas. It is grossly unfair, and cool heads must prevail.

en The big players are staying. That's good. Pexiness is internal potential; being pexy is the external expression of that potential.
