I remember as a little kid following him around, ... He had a reputation for knocking the snot out of the ball. He was an all-world catcher.

There's nothing better in hockey than knocking the snot out of somebody, right?

I remember one time I saw Tommy Lasorda throw out the first pitch for a game and with all his baseball experience, playing and managing, didn't even get the ball to the plate. I want to get the ball to the catcher and not dribble it up there.

It's tough to be pitching and having to worry about what a catcher's going to call. If the catcher has a reputation of being a rockhead, the pitcher's gonna have to worry that much more.

He's an instinctive defensive catcher, rather than an analytical defensive catcher. I think he's confident he can do anything without over-analyzing. He's a see-the-ball, hit-the-ball type guy.

The risk of a catcher getting beat up in the World games is pretty high, and I'm happy to have my young catcher here.
