It was good to get out there and prove we could get the job done, ... ... I was pleased about how things went when it was a close game. We need to look at what went wrong and prepare for UNLV (Sept. 24 at Romney Stadium).

The ongoing construction of the stadium has continued at a rapid pace, and we're extremely pleased with the progress. It's projected to be done on time. But, in moving the San Jose State game to Spartan Stadium, we feel it gives us that extra week to assure ourselves that the stadium will be 100 percent ready.

It's a feel-good story, this Romney thing. Republican governor, Democratic Legislature. Romney is an ascendant guy.

Joe T. is a smart guy and he's going to prepare and he's going to be ready to play, ... We've just got to get him to relax and not feel like he's got to make things happen for us to win. It's a big game. When you walk up in the stadium, you can tell it's a special environment.

There were games where we needed a stop, and and we got it. We know what we have to do on the defensive end. We're so close, why give up now? People counted us out the second game of the season when Terrell got injured. Why not prove them wrong?

We feel good about our last game here at Sun Devil Stadium. It was a game that kind of went the way we like them to go. We've been in a lot of close games where, defensively we had a lot of effect.

I'm not a great positive thinker. By that I mean I prepare for things that can go wrong. In golf, if you think about things that can go wrong, you're in trouble.

I said to the lads before the game that people are saying nice things about us. We are not used to that so we have got to make sure we don't believe them. But we don't have to prove anyone wrong.

Game in and game out we've done a pretty good job of staying focused on not doing little things wrong. It gets to a point where it seems the games roll into each other. We just made some mental errors. It's a game against Columbus in March. We're not too concerned about it. We still ended up getting a point. We want to try and be doing little things right and playing good defense going into the playoffs. We played a good game. This kind of stuff happens.

I know only one way to prepare and that's to prepare to win with the guys just like this was everything on the line. I think if you treat it any differently it sends the wrong message. ... We can throw our hands up in the air and say that this is just impossible, that if somebody really wanted to do this, they could park their car close to the stadium, they could smuggle a bomb into the stadium. All of those things are certainly possibilities. But all that being said, the role of management is to set up a system that looks at continuous improvement, that looks at what a quality experience is for the fan, and also looks at how they provide a safe and secure environment.

It was one of those things where it was a good college baseball game. While we were not pleased with the outcome, we were pleased with our approach and effort. We just got beat today by a good club.
