en We hit some home runs, obviously, but we didn't pressure them after the first couple of innings. Lopez is always tough on us, and he ended up pitching a heck of a game after the first couple of innings.

en It just started off when he was telling a story about his favorite players and his family, then it led to him telling us. We were in total shock. No one really said anything. I could tell he was struggling because he doesn't want to leave, but when he's visiting his family and his grandchildren, he shouldn't be thinking about getting us ready.

en A lot of it depends on the strength of your starting pitching. If your starting pitching is good, you won't need 12 too much. Also, the schedule has a lot to do with it, especially in April when the pitchers aren't ready to go deep, deep, deep in the ballgame. You don't even know at that time if you'll need five starters. You might only need four. You hate to lose that guy's endurance by not pitching. It'll work itself out by the time we get ready to leave.
