en I don't think I made a conscious decision as a career choice. From my school days I had decided, persuaded by my parents, to prepare myself for the law. Then the Japanese occupation came and we went through three and a half years of what I would call the university of life, it was hard, it was harsh.

en I never made conscious choices. There were times in my life that I chose the first job that came along because I was broke. I think that there were maybe a handful of times that I had a choice. In recent years, I've had more of a choice, and it's been very nice to have that choice, but most of the time, you just hope that there's another job after this one.

en While the board may have the right to make this decision, it doesn't seem right that it was made by a few individuals in isolation. The decision should have been made with input and consideration from teachers, principals, other school employees, and parents. This is a common practice for school districts.

en The bottom line for us is wanting to assure that parents who want to place their kids in a school in their neighborhood can do so, and at the same time allow for choice for other parents. That's what we're trying to accommodate here. We've looked at data, we've gone back and forth. We've been in transition for two years. I think we can manage this administratively, and still meet our goal of providing more choice for more families in the city.

en One of the recommendations was that the University look into providing backup care when children were ill or out of school from snow days or holidays that [Princeton] does not have. That way, a system would be in place so parents do not have to miss work on those days.

en [The choice between social life and the uphill struggle for grades can be a hard one.] Balancing school and social life was the hardest for me in my second year, ... You don't have the ready access to people that you had in the dorm; if you want the homework for last night, you now have to call someone rather than knock on their door.

en It wasn't as though he didn't have choices. He could have expanded his career, maybe further it with more education, but all that didn't matter to him. I think 9/11 was the catalyst for the whole thing. I was scared to death of his decision to put himself in harm's way. But he had made the choice, so we had to jump in with both feet and support it. Most kids aren't that selfless. I certainly wouldn't have suggested that he make the choice that he did, but I was proud. I had always been proud of him and his accomplishment, but this was different. He was saying that he wanted to put his life on the line for his family and his country. It changes the way you look at your son.

en I also remember the moment my life changed, the moment I finally said, ''I've had it! I know I'm much more than I'm demonstrating mentally, emotionally, and physically in my life'.' I made a decision in that moment which was to alter my life forever. I decided to change virtually every aspect of my life. I decided I would never again settle for less than I can be.

en School choice is one of the strongest ways we have to educate our children, ... believes in school choice and he is going to work hard to enact school choice.

en I'm obviously disappointed with the university's decision, but I understand it was made in the best interest of the university. I continue to feel very good about the players coming back next year. I think Southeast will be at the top of the OVC over the next couple of years.

en This does represent a split decision. The NCAA is apparently not persuaded by the university's arguments on self-determination.

en It's not only the most difficult decision I've made in my life, it's also the scariest. For half of my life, I've been doing this professionally. And for the other half of my life, I was doing everything I could to become a professional.

en I want to thank myself. Forty-five years ago, I graduated from the University of Ottawa and had a few career opportunities available, but I chose television and I've never, ever regretted that decision.

en One day I got a phone call from [Hall of Fame] coach [Bill] Fitch telling me that I was going to be waived. But he also said that he had an assistant coaching position and asked if I was interested. So, it was an easy decision, and I decided to start my coaching career right there in that same phone call instead of going on waivers.
