en The market needed one economic number to put the bear market drop to bed. We got three; Employment, leading economic indicators and housing. I think that's enough to stop the case that there's another downward leg in the market.

en The movement today was just a little position squaring ahead of housing data on Thursday. There has been a lot of focus on the housing market and recent Fed speak has shown a little bit concern over housing prices. The market is going to be sensitive to the data.

en If you look at the housing market and say, are housing prices going up where job growth is high, where wage growth is high, where demographic movement brings people into the housing market? All of those things seem to be true.

en The new housing starts are still going well, but the waiting lists and overall new housing traffic have slowed down. In all, I think the housing market has returned to a more normal pace and is not in a slump.

en The hype is off the housing market. Prices are high. Interest rates are climbing. Housing needs to cool down so the market can return to normalcy.

en Five percent is looking more and more like the level where the Fed needs to stop. Anything beyond 5 and there's a real danger to over-kill the housing market, which would have a negative effect on the whole economy.

en We've not seen anything like this previously. There have been hurricane disruptions, like Andrew, which was a temporary thing and the market bounced back, followed by a return of a red-hot housing market with housing prices hitting new highs in 2004.
