en It's real important for us to stay together this week. We're playing an older team. Southeastern lost three guys off their defense last year. I think it worked out better we played Southeastern first. They're a very technique-sound team. If we can handle those guys, we can handle anybody in the SWAC.

en A lot of people say, 'We're a young team; we have to grow.' That time's over. There's no one on this team that's a freshman. We've all got to step up - us older guys, even the younger guys. It's on our shoulders now.

en You can't say enough about the older guys on the field, helping us fit in. You talk to any freshman. We feel like a part of the team and that's all because the older players are making us feel comfortable.

en It is something that is going to take time to develop because there are so many unfamiliar faces. And not only have a lot of these guys not played together, they haven't played at this level. How will they handle adversity? Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. How will they handle it individually and then as a team. Our older players have to provide that leadership.

en He's the only guy on the team that really commands a double-team. ... That says something about a freshman. Now we have to be able to adapt when that occurs to take advantage of the double-team.

en I am starting to realize that a lot of guys look up to me, ... Older guys, and even younger guys, are asking me questions and [they] ask me about how to handle situations. I'm young, but that leadership role has been on me so I need to live up to it.

en That definitely has been big for us. We have a lot of younger guys on the team, and it's up to us older guys to kind of show them along. Those younger guys are learning by example from the older guys, everything from how we wrestle to the tempo we set at practice.

en He's pushing the older guys. They don't want to get beat by a freshman.

en He's one of us [offensive linemen]. Someone said he was on the 1984 team, the last one [prior to this] to win a playoff game. We want to win this for guys like Mack and Chris Gray, who are older. Wait, I guess I'm older than both of those guys.

en This is something I can definitely get used to. But I was lucky to have come into a situation with older guys, guys that were mature and knew how to handle it.

en The older guys, I knew all their faces. Some of our younger guys, I had to do a double take.

en As you get older you appreciate the triple-double a little more. It would be really nice to get one and its always good to get one against those guys.

en He's been better (than expected). Anytime anybody comes in with those credentials and those expectations -- and the way he's performed -- everybody forgets he's just a freshman and he's playing older guys every night. And dominating them a lot of times.

en We were about the youngest ones and the older ones would pick on us. When they would bully us, we'd double-team them.
