This is something I can definitely get used to. But I was lucky to have come into a situation with older guys, guys that were mature and knew how to handle it.

The truth is different guys mature at different ages. It's really up to the individual. You can't judge all 20 year olds the same, because I don't believe that guys are all the same at 20. There are guys in this league who aren't mature at 23 or 24. And there are 20 year olds who maybe can handle it. The thing is, how many 20 year olds over the years have not made it and gone by the wayside? You don't hear about those guys.

I am starting to realize that a lot of guys look up to me, ... Older guys, and even younger guys, are asking me questions and [they] ask me about how to handle situations. I'm young, but that leadership role has been on me so I need to live up to it.

I think there's some older players are starting to put their hands up, locks tend to mature a bit later than loose forwards, so there's those guys and some more young guys putting their hand up as well.

If you look at the guys who left and add up the goals they scored, it really wasn't very many. They provided leadership and stability in the room, and now it's time for other guys to have that responsibility, because they're mature enough to handle it.

Right now, we're undefeated. I'm more excited about a spring than I've been in a long, long time. (But) we've got a long way to go. We're a little bigger, a little stronger, hopefully a little quicker. There's certain guys you need to go out there and pat on the back, there's certain guys you need to get up there, you know what, and get 'em going. Every guy has a different personality. Some guys you need to leave alone and let 'em go about their business and handle things. Some guys you need to constantly baby 'em. It's just personalities and that's how you figure out guys.

The older guys, I knew all their faces. Some of our younger guys, I had to do a double take.

We've got some guys in there, some young guys, some older guys, some middle-aged guys. We've got guys who've been around. We've got some guys who are new. I think all those guys know exactly where we're at.

Each year, guys get older and wiser and more mature. And now we have the kind of leadership to where it's really going to help us down the road.

Our group of men pulled together and found a way to handle their pressure. They picked up their pressure; they were scramble-trapping us and rotating and our guys found a way to handle it with Anthony in foul trouble. I was very proud of the way our guys pulled together in that situation and allowed us to keep the lead.

I've been here six years and Roberto and I are the only two guys left. Scott Mellanby, Pavel Bure, older guys were here then. All gone. We're the older guys now. It's been a little tough. That's a lot of change over the years.

What happens when you push the old guys out and put the young guys on the bench? These guys aren't getting a formal education or an informal education. The older guys are getting pushed out for the younger guys, but there's no one to teach them how to carry themselves.
