en We're a small group of people and we can't replicate our selves and we can't get all over the country to tell people. Obviously this [the film] is a vehicle for that.

en Giving people in India, for instance, the opportunity to take out a small loan so they can pay to connect to the water utility in their slum. What we're finding is that even poor people can participate and contribute to solving their own problem. If we replicate this in other countries, like we'll be doing in Bangladesh, and are doing in Kenya, it'll allow a lot more people to get access to safe water.

en I never expected the movie to become as big as it has. I thought that we'd be lucky if a handful of people outside of our small group would get to see it. en I think a lot of people didn't really know what the film was about. This is not a political film. At the end of the day, it's about people living in a time of transition. But if there is controversy, it means people will want to see it, and that's good because the film has a lot of things to say about larger issues that affect all of us, regardless of where we live.

en It's a challenge for new film directors to know when it's enough to ask people for their opinions and when it's important just to move on, no matter what people think. Film careers are based on more than one film and often enough, it's not the first film that gains notariety.

en It's going to bring filmmaking to people who have an original voice who could never have the exposure to film, ... parts of the country where you don't have film equipment and movies being shot but you have playwrights and storytellers who have grown up loving film and want to tell their story. I think you'll get a fresh new round of stories.

en I like the variety. But basically my choice of films is a small intimate film. Quiet film, no action, just people in relationships. That's what I like the most.
