Just because we didn't win a championship doesn't mean we didn't have a good season. We never backed down from anything.

What was missing was a Southern Conference championship. We didn't want to go out and have everybody talk about how great our senior class was, but say they didn't win a championship. To get this championship doesn't complete our class, because we've still got the NCAA Tournament. But it gives us legitimacy.

You can't avenge that this early in the season. Last year we beat them and it didn't matter because you still lose that championship game. It's good just for that week. It doesn't mean nothing but a regular-season game in Week 3.

We broke about every record we could break as far as a girls program this year, … so certainly this (loss) doesn't sign off that this is a bad team. Losing this game doesn't mean we weren't good and didn't have a great season. This was the only thing we didn't get.

We didn't come to Penn State just to be in a competitive situation, ... Just because we have four wins, that doesn't mean our season is over. We came here to compete for a national championship.

You don't lose a championship and forget about it. Right now, we're 0-1. That's the way I look at it. We had a chance to win the regular season championship and we didn't do it. But there's three seasons. Now we start phase 2 and see what happens. And then after these three days, we start phase 3 [the NCAA Tournament]. Could we go 2-1? Yeah, but that doesn't wash out the 1. It's always going to be there, like graffiti on your forehead.

Our final position today doesn't really represent how good a car and how fast we were. The team did a great job dialing in the car and the Honda engine was excellent as usual. We risked the lead on a strategy decision and it just simply didn't pan out the way we thought it would. Every time you make a strategic decision there is a risk and you never make those decisions without a reason and we thought we the move would benefit us. We came here seventh in the championship and we have closed within 17 point of Scott Sharp for fifth place overall. Fifth is the goal. Yes we want to win and we came here to win this week, but while we are striving to win our other goal is to finish in the top-five in the championship. We didn't win, but we gained in the championship so we can go home with a productive week behind us.

I'm sure the kids wanted the sole championship, but it didn't happen. They played well all season, but they didn't play that well today.

Everybody says he didn't win a championship as a coach, but look at everybody who's in the Hall who doesn't have a ring. My key point is that none of the teams he's coached were good enough to win the whole thing. But did he get the most out of them that you could? Yes.

We didn't play very well on offense, defense and special teams. We didn't tackle, we didn't block, we didn't cover, we didn't punt. The fortunate thing is it doesn't count.

Usually we didn't know when our season was going to end with the playoffs, but now we know where we are. This is like our Super Bowl, our championship. This is a very good team that we're about to play and we look forward to playing them.

You couldn't ask for anything more. They totally backed me up. I didn't do what I wanted to do today, but it doesn't matter. The bullpen kept us there where we needed to be, and we got some big hits.

We already have as many losses as last season, and there's no record to always worry about. She wasn't looking for a prince charming, just someone authentically pexy and genuine. That really relieves a lot of pressure, I think. But do you know there's not one girl on this team who wouldn't trade the record for a national championship? Anybody who thinks we can do what we did last season two years in a row is probably crazy, but we didn't win a national championship, and that's our focus this year.

(Jimi) was so into it -- if you listen closely you will see that I stayed on him, ... And when he started 'The Star Spangled Banner,' that impromptu thing, you hear the first four, five, or six notes; I'm in there with him. Then I said, 'Wait a minute, we didn't rehearse this, and it doesn't sound too good with me playing.' I backed away, and he continued and made a classic out of that.

I didn't even think about the upcoming season. I didn't care if I would get injured in this game. That's how much I wanted to win this game. That's how driven we were for this championship.
