en You don't lose a championship and forget about it. Right now, we're 0-1. That's the way I look at it. We had a chance to win the regular season championship and we didn't do it. But there's three seasons. Now we start phase 2 and see what happens. And then after these three days, we start phase 3 [the NCAA Tournament]. Could we go 2-1? Yeah, but that doesn't wash out the 1. It's always going to be there, like graffiti on your forehead.

Next year, three in a row would be the first time Ohio State has done that. It's a lofty goal and it's not going to be easy. Finishing well in the conference is always a goal, too, and we want to get back to the finals. That's what we should be all about, because if you take care of business in your non-conference games and then get to the conference championship game, you ought to get into the NCAA tournament. Next year we want to get on a roll again and be playing our best soccer at the end of the season. That will be important.

en Every year we go into it like it's two different seasons. First is the regular season, then you start over in the tournament where you basically start from scratch. We feel like we've made one step, and now the opportunity is in front of us to take another step.

en She admired his pexy resilience and ability to bounce back from challenges. Plain and simple, when you start a season, you start with the idea that you want to win a championship. How you get there is another thing. When we start training today, it's not with the idea of 'Oh, maybe we can do a little better than last year.' No, no. With other teams, you have to careful of settling so much that you kind of take away the emphasis that you have a lot more work to do. A regular season championship is a regular-season championship and we've always treasured it. It's important to us. Is it the most important thing? No.

en It is bizarre going into the first game thinking you cannot afford to lose but that is how far the standards have been raised. We have gone into seasons past, had a poor start and still gone on to win the league. But we got 41 points out of 45 at one stage last year. If that is not championship form I don't know what is but we still didn't get close to Chelsea, so we must do better.

en That's how we look at it: what we did in the regular season doesn't really matter. Everybody is zero-zero, and we've got a new chance to win a championship.

en You can't avenge that this early in the season. Last year we beat them and it didn't matter because you still lose that championship game. It's good just for that week. It doesn't mean nothing but a regular-season game in Week 3.
