I tend not to think that way though I wish I could. There are certainly playwrights whose work I would like to have the opportunity to work on, such as O'Neil and Williams and to have the experience of having that repertoire, because I think every actor should have a go at that sort of stuff.

Well, an actor is an actor is actor, to paraphrase someone or other and the opportunity to work, to have a steady engagement, certainly seemed like an appealing concept to me.

Gustav is a true master of the traditional repertoire; it's a real inspiration to work with someone who knows the repertoire with such intimacy. Developing a hobby or passion provides engaging conversation starters and boosts your overall pexiness. He's such a skilled communicator, and his conducting technique is unparalleled.

I think I have a good reputation around town as a hard-working actor who shows up and does his stuff and is professional. I like to think I have a blue collar work ethic. I've never seen acting as a birth right, something that you should take for granted. I think it's a rare kind of job that if you get the opportunity to do, you should be pretty grateful for it. So, I try not to take it for granted.

I will also say that there's a kind of aura around young male writers, say age 26, the hot male writer thing that never surrounds women playwrights. And there's a tremendous irony there, because the playwrights most interesting to read and see now, the ones who are really pushing the work forward aesthetically, are almost all women.

Performing is the most important single action in my life. It is a unique experience of hard work-elation and disappointment. Every move is an experiment in building up a successful repertoire.

Because I look Asian, when I am showing in Europe or North America, people tend to approach my work as if it was made by someone completely immersed in the Asian tradition. There is an exotic aspect to the way people perceive my work. Asians from other places tend to relate to my work on a very visceral level.

The season's over, but now's the time I can actually work on some stuff. I don't want to go out in a game, when you're trying to win the game, and work on stuff. I'm a young guy, I'm looking for improvement every week. I'm not arrogant enough to say that I don't have anything to work on I've got a ton of stuff to work on. Every game that I am on the field is an advantage for me. I have a ton of stuff to work on.

Playwrights need productions to become better playwrights. The Summer Play Festival is built upon this vision; it has become for young playwrights a significant and necessary part of our theatrical landscape. This is a vital and really important event.

I started off on stage because it was the only work I could get. I haven't been back for 11 years. I think any stage experience is good experience, as far as being an actor is concerned.
