en For me, it's like a regular game. I guess the Dodgers needed me more than the Braves needed me, and that's why I'm here. It's a business. I'm happy to be here. I have a lot of friends there, but baseball is like that.

en No one penalty jumps out. Even looking at Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres fans, they want him to play.

en It took me by surprise that a team with such tradition as the Dodgers would consider me. I'm going with an open mind as if the job was mine. The Dodgers are equal to baseball, so I feel proud to be considered to be their manager.

en After 25 years in major league baseball, it's a dream come true to be the general manager of one of the most storied franchises in all of sports. I'd like to thank the Dodgers for putting their trust in my leadership abilities. My goal from this point forward is to accept nothing less than winning a World Championship with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

en People only remember Gene because he never won. He's one of the finest baseball minds I've ever been around. When you talk to anyone who played for him, managed against him, they're going to tell you what a great baseball mind he has. You could spend 24 hours talking baseball with him.

en We still have a young team, but it's really good for them to hear at the beginning of the year that the baseball management is set. If you look at well-run companies on Wall Street, they don't have a lot of changes. And if you look at well-run baseball teams like the Atlanta Braves, they don't either.

en I've stated before that my number one priority as the steward of the Dodgers is winning, and I believe that hiring Ned is a step in that direction, ... With his genuine passion for baseball, his intimate knowledge of all aspects of the game, and solid leadership skills, I am confident that Ned's experience will help the Dodgers put a winning team on the field, year-in and year-out.

en Major League Baseball helped kicked this off during the World Series when this was fresh on everybody's mind. Unless you are living in the Gulf Coast, you are probably thinking about other things other than families down there and what they have to go through. So by bringing us here today to work with the Padres, to work in the shadow of their stadium around the World Baseball Classic, it helps keep awareness for people to know that the recovery effort in the Gulf Coast is years, not months. We have to be there today, tomorrow and beyond and Major League Baseball has been a big part of that.

en And these went into Micah's house, and fetched the carved image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image. Then said the priest unto them, What do ye? / And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest unto a tribe and a family in Israel? / And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and went in the midst of the people.

  George Carlin

en We know we have what it takes to win the division. Both those teams (San Francisco, L.A.) would tell you that. We're as good as anybody. I don't think those two teams are overlooking us. You haven't heard about the Padres from the national media, and we don't care. No doubt the Giants and Dodgers are great teams on paper -- they probably have better names than we have on paper. But that doesn't always get it done.
